And so I phoned Mom, and I was like, "Well, I've been asked to go on this podcast about Marguerite Patten.
C

Could you send me one of her recipes to make so I can bring something along?" So Mom was like, "What sh- what ...
C

Well, what, what do you need using up?" And I was like, "Well, it's January," when I made this, or February.

So, um, I made the carrot sort of conserve, which I've never ever made a recipe from Marguerite Patten before.

But she sent me a sort of WhatsApp of the page, and the recipe was just perfect, 'cause it was like carrots, almonds, lemon peel, sugar.

But I heard high energy and I was like, "Yeah, that's the one for me." So kind of got into it probably four years ago, um, and then had my first season, did kind of Canicross Midlands, Canicx, and then came across the world of BSSF, and I was like, "Yeah, wanna have a go at that." So did our first season at BSSF, and I've said this to so many people, I will hold my hands up and admit that I completely underestimatedThe top levels of canicross, right? I was just like, "Oh, you just tie yourself to a dog and you run and it's easy." And in a normal field against dogless runners, yeah, you probably are quick, but you, when you go up that level, you're like, "Oh my goodness, I need to rethink everything." Um, but I wasn't in a position to, um, get a new dog, so carried on with Rex and used that as a massive learning curve and an opportunity to kinda get the experience and understand the sport.

And then we [laughs] we were in the process of moving house, and the plan was next year or later this year, we were like, "Uh, we'd like to get a second dog.

That would be nice." Hadn't really planned it, and then someone sent me a screenshot of Loki, and he was in a rescue house.
