Fukuoka Fukuoka Prefectural Police September 8 said they arrested three Nepalese nationals on suspicion of murdering a female compatriot who was repeatedly beaten and thrown off a balcony into the Nakagawa River.

The body of Rajbanshi Lakshmi, 25, was found floating in the river in central Fukuoka about two kilometers downstream from her apartment early on August 19.

Police believe the three suspects were in Raj Banshee's apartment in the Kiyokawa district of Fukuoka's Chuo Ward between around 11.30pm on August 18 and 12.15am on August 19.

During that time period, the victim was apparently struck on the head with a cooking pot and then tossed into the river with critical injuries.

Fukuoka, Fukuoka Prefectural Police on August 20th launched a murder investigation after a Nepalese woman was found dead with head injuries in the Nakagawa River.

The victim was identified as Rajbanshi Laxmi, a 25-year-old Nepalese national living in Fukuoka's Chuo Ward.

An autopsy could not determine the cause of death, but police said Rajbanshi had multiple injuries to her head and forehead that appeared to have been inflicted with an object.

There were bloodstains in her apartment and signs of a struggle, leading investigators to conclude that she was the victim of a homicide.
