Chubb Rock

I didn't know where the fuck I was going.

And so, uh, I look over, I said, "Damn, that's Chubb Rock." And-

Hmm

... she's like, "That ain't Chubb Rock." So I let the window down, I said, "Treat them right." [laughs]

[laughs]

This nigga gave me a smirk, man, and he rolled his windows up.

Right there-

Right

Back to the Grill was probably the biggest hit from the album.

That featured Chub Rock, Red Hot Lover Tone, and then the debut of someone called Nasty Nos, who would go on to drop the nasty from his name and make a name for himself just as Nos.

That posse cut was the album's biggest track, but Here It Comes hits hard.

It's one of those songs that I also have kicking off my hip-hop workout playlist, because for me, it doesn't get any better to start off a workout and kicking things off with Here It Comes and following it up with Ice Cube's Wicked.

Here it comes.

Now remember, Back to the Grill was the bigger hit, but not the song I featured in this playlist.

So it's not repetition that my next song features two of the artists that were on Back to the Grill, that being Chub Rock and Red Hot Lover Tone for my second pick of the evening, Yabba Dabba Doo from 1993's I Gotta Get Mine Yo, Book of Rhymes.

I mean, I talked about that tongue-in-cheek boom-bap humor.

I mean, there's a whole bunch of, you know, uh, you got all kinds of stuff in here that nobody, you know, Mantronix came out with a record, Redhead Kingpin, et cetera.

Ice-T, De La Soul, that, is that came out in May, right? Chubb Rock, um, NWA, Endz of Life.

All these great records before September, 'cause you're almost to '92, right? Um, Geto Boys, We Can't Be Stopped comes out July 9th.

Boyz in the Hood soundtrack the same day.

Yeah.

Yeah, so from having a little thing with Dave Hall, rest in peace, almost signing with Chubb Rock.

Um, he had a meeting-

Chubb Rock was on-

... with KRS.

He said, "Yo, I'm gonna do this one song with you guys.

Yeah.

So from having a little thing with Dave Hall, rest in peace, almost signing with Chubb Rock.

Um, we had a meeting with-

Chubb Rock was on

...

KRS.

Now, members of the first outfit, Buckshot, Masta Ace and Special Ed.

Second incarnation of the group, the members Chubb Rock, Jeru the Damaja, and OC.

And the third incarnation, Gene Gray, Mos Def and Memphis Bleek.

Really one to check out, so until next time, hope you have a great day.

We

were dissing Chubb Rock and I feel...

Or I was dissing Chubb Rock and I feel horrible about that and I don't want to spew those lyrics out anymore because...

Hey guys, Lady Luck here.

I just love the fall season.
