Christopher Skase

Like Jeremy Irons was another one.

Uh, Kenny Everett, uh, Christopher Skase, if you're Australian, you'd know him.

So she, she, she was a very high-end esteemed travel agent, and, uh, when she died, she didn't have children, and she left all her nephews and nieces a bunch of money.

Mm.

So that was, uh, feeding cash into their coffers, and it made them sort of attractive to people who wanted to get into the movie business, which was starting to happen around this time.

So it is my genuine displeasure to introduce you to a new villain in the Child's Play universe, an Australian venture capitalist and Rupert Murdoch wannabe named Christopher Skase.

Now, in 1989, Skase was on the hunt for his own little movie studio that he could call his own.

And I apologize up front- But this is going to include a little bit of finance talk.

Uh, but digging into this time, he said, "We had made the first film very successfully at UA.

It was a big surprise for them, and honestly, it was an even bigger surprise to us how well it did.

And then Dick Burger, who was the head of UA at the time, called me up and said, 'David, I'm sorry, I don't know how to tell you this, but there's this man named Christopher Skase who runs a company called Quintex out of Australia, and they're about to buy UA.

And the thing is, he does not want to make any horror films.' And as insane as this was to all of this, that film was super profitable for MGM/UA.

Um, [laughs] we had to start with something different.

It's been nearly as hard as getting Christopher Skase here as it is getting all three of you in one room.
