John McQuaid, Vice President, Marketing, Communication, and Safety for Call2Recycle Canada.

By the way, does that group sound familiar to you? I think it's because you've seen Christine Sinclair, Canadian soccer great.

She's an ambassador for Call2Recycle Canada.

You've probably seen some of their commercials.

We also, in the last couple years, have lost some of our biggest glues.

We lost s- Christine Sinclair, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Sam Coffey.

Those are huge captain, leader people.

That's a lot.

Yeah, absolutely.

And no, well, just to point out most goals by a man because the legendary Christine Sinclair has got more in many more games, but has got more 190 for Canada.

Well said.

Well said, Jeffy.

Former Montreal Canadiens great Yvonne Cornoyer was recognized for his exceptional career in the National Hockey League.

And soccer star Christine Sinclair received the Companion of the Order of Canada, the highest level.

She's considered one of the most influential athletes in Canadian history.

Also promoted to the Companion of the Order of Canada, actor and Parkinson's disease advocate Michael J.

The Canadian actor and activist is being honored for his work on screens and is a vocal advocate for people with Parkinson's and his fundraising for Parkinson's research.

Fox will be celebrated today along with dozens of other Canadians at a ceremony at Rideau Hall, among others, including soccer legend Christine Sinclair, ex-Montreal Canadiens great Yvon Cournoyer, and Mayann Francis, Nova Scotia's first Black lieutenant governor.

[upbeat music] And that is the latest national and international news from World Report.

I'm John Northcott.

And stole a record from Portland.

She passed Christine Sinclair, who was 38.

Right.

Crazy.

But first, the factoid of the week, the Seattle Reign, a 2-0 victory this week.

Both goals came from Jess Fischlach, and she bums Christine Sinclair out of the NWSL record books as the oldest player in league history with a multi-goal game, so a little bit of a salvo fired in the Cascadia rivalry without the Reign and Thorns even playing each other.

We will get to both those teams in a little bit, but let's look at North Carolina.

Full house tonight with Becky and Michael, and Becky a week after Sanchez, we thought, scored until an interesting offside call.

And in a game that Seattle really needed after a rough week, in a game they really should have won against Boston and did, Fischlach comes up with both goals, both from outside the box.

As we said at the top, now the oldest player in league history with a multi-goal game.

Bye-bye, Christine Sinclair.

And Seattle season has been so up and down, and they've got this big match coming up now, Friday night against North Carolina.

the team I went into was just so supportive and they were just like just my role models.

Like I was just like with Christine Sinclair, like she was my role model for like such a long time and I got to play with her.

I remember her the first time she passed me the ball, I was like freaking out and I think I lost it.

But yeah, like I just think it was just, I had a great support system with me.

He's just better.

Okay, then woman idol.

Christine Sinclair.

So how cool of an experience was it? You hit on it a little bit, but when you got to play with her for the first time, do you remember the first time meeting her?

costa rica haiti they cruise past those argentina they cruise past them in one obviously got upset in the other one at starlight stadium last year um otherwise if you look at game games in canada canada didn't play a whole lot in 2024 in fact they only played one or two and they were both against mexico like it's been a while since they've gotten a top 15 opponent denmark's 12th uh in the in the world right now uh in Canada.

You'd have to probably go back to Australia for the Christine Sinclair send-off in 2023 when you're looking at and Brazil the months before and Halifax and Montreal for top 15 opponents in Canada.

So that's huge.

And then you add in as well that it's top 15 teams.
