Christian Harris

Well, there's a rookie in Atlanta that has surprised everybody, and that's Kendall Daniels.

he's he worked his way ahead of Christian Harris on the depth chart and it's very likely that he will maintain a starting position over Harris in his first season but Daniels popped up on the injury report with an Achilles issue as a limited participant on Thursday so if he practiced full on Friday then Daniels could be a sleeper IDP against the Steelers on opening day.

But if he doesn't practice, then all of a sudden now Christian Harris could be put back into the starting lineup and his veteran leadership or his veteran play will be relied upon by the Falcons until Daniels is ready to go.

In contrast, the defense added some beef up front with Deshaun Hand coming off of, you know, a big year as a run stopper there with the Chargers.

They also bring in uh sam j trade for javon dexter some interior juice there with them losing greater jared um they're taking a flyer on samuel ubu cam who tore his achilles in 2025 i think he had eight and a half sacks there in 2024 zadarius smith played five games with philadelphia in 2025 i think he had nine sacks in 2024 but the team also bringing new linebackers of um as part of parting ways with Caden Elis, who went through another team, bringing in a favorite of mine from Las Vegas, a guy Patrick Graham is familiar with in Divine Diablo and Christian Harris.

Not much change there, though, in the secondary, but we'll get into that group a little bit later as they've got some studs there.

But this is just a team that I think Pittsburgh matches up well against, given their structure and their newness on their coaching staff.

They have five new starters in their front seven this season, but they are rolling back Jeff Albrook as defensive coordinator.

And the starters that they're bringing in, largely unproven, you know, Mason Smith, Gervon Dexter, Samson Ebukon, Christian Harris, Darius Smith.

And why I think that matters here is because The Atlanta Falcons last year really struggled to defend runs out of two tight end sets, which is, I believe, something the Steelers are going to do more of this week because Michael Pittman hasn't played in the preseason.

Aaron Rodgers has openly talked about it.

yeah, it's going to be divine Diablo until he gets hurt, which is going to happen at some point.

And it looks like they're going to start the rookie Kendall Daniels as the number two spot because Christian Harris, which if they had started Christian Harris, he'd have got worked too.

That's all Christian Harris does is get injured.

So I like both Falcons.

I mean, I think Bates is going later than he should, but he's going multiple, multiple, multiple rounds ahead of Watts.

I think, I think Kendall Daniels looked really good.

He's obviously like a giant, uh, um linebacker too like looks like a looks like an old school dumper plays like a safety so you know it's a little bit of a creative uh interesting prospect there but it seems like the early returns on that pick which a lot of people thought it's a big reach um you know we'll see christian harris imagine going from jd bertrand which like jd bertrand get well soon he's he's on ir this is not meant to to totally slander JD Bertrand here, but imagine going from JD Bertrand as your third linebacker to Christian Harris.

It's like, wow, that's, that's a big change.

That's, that's like a very meaningful change.

So, um, you know, Christian Harris, if he is just a third linebacker, love to see it.

But like, I feel like, are they going to be leaning on like Harold Perkins and maybe Yasir Abdullah, who has mostly played outside linebacker, despite being listed as an off ball linebacker? Like, is this, is this going to be like, they need Harold Perkins to be a pass rusher for this team, Aaron, at this point?

Yeah, I think we got some glimpses in the preseason of Perkins.

I think they can run pretty deep, but the deeper you go, the more inexperience that you're putting on the field, and that's where maybe things can get dicey.

2019 Alabama with Shane Lee and Christian Harris, that type of situation.

So need to be careful, but if they can get that second level figured out, I think there's going to be a hell of a defense for sure.

a job last year I mean we saw him coming it started in training camp and he didn't let up until actually he had the job and turned in a 62 tackle season and wasn't even the starter the whole time but you know the way he competes that's hard to replace

yeah and I think that's one of those free agent signings where okay let's put him in the mix see what happens if it doesn't work out we got a lot of guys still like Christian Harris at the time I know they're different but Obviously, Christian Harris didn't make it here, and EJ Speed very much did.

So this is one of those things.

You just don't know how it's going to go, and it went really well.
