Christian college

So you've been talking a little bit about deconstruction out there in the world.

And I want to talk about what's happening with Christian colleges and how I want to talk about – so one of the things that you are super passionate about is making sure that kids and teens know how to think critically.

Yeah.

And so one could argue that that deconstruction process is a critical thinking process.

where we want to go

because, you know, we get off on rabbit trails.

I want to hear your thoughts about how some— Christian colleges are actually undermining faith and they're normalizing this deconstruction process and their marketing is crazy and they're Christian, but not Christian.

And

According to the Constitution, they can be discriminated against in perpetuity as long as it's to ameliorate these past harms.

The cycle has developed that in every court case where Christians in Canada assert their rights, whether it's a university like Trinity Western University, Christian University saying we want a law school, They weren't allowed because at the level of the Supreme Court, it was decided that their position on traditional marriage made society unsafe.

So their right to have a law school was denied them, the rights of those Christians.

Just in the last year, there was a trustee, a school trustee out in British Columbia who had the temerity to say on his social media that men can't become women by by wishing it.

Eye service is just service that's performed only while the boss is looking.

I hope you're not that kind of a worker, but if you've ever worked along somebody like that, it drives you nuts, doesn't it? I remember one of my first jobs, I was working in the dining common of the Christian University.

My parents were employed.

I was 14 years old.

It is the university at Toccoa Falls.

It used to be Toccoa Falls College, Christian College, which another story for another day.

Let me just put it this way.

This big voice on the phone called me up, and we had lunch, and he hired me to do some part-time engineering.

We prayed and sought the Lord and thought, well, let's take it each step at a time.

And so we started, we threw out the idea of a possibility of a Christian college and then one step led to another.

And here we are at the end of our first year.

Wow.

Yeah, so...

Yeah, the idea of Christian colleges, of course, that's kind of what a lot of our universities were originally founded upon here in the United States.

We've had to continue to redo our Christian colleges because they seem to always slip away from us somehow or other over a period of time, although you can still go walk over in Harvard and Yale and see their Christian heritage.

But, of course, they've got heretics in the classroom now.

And then as soon as you got to Nashville, you came out.

Basically, I spent like a year at like a university, like a Christian university studying religion and lost my religion there.

Right.

And then, yeah, when I dropped out of college, I got a job at Forever 21, RIP.

And then like, yeah, it was just like the first time I was around openly queer people.

I'd been around other queer people, but it was all like hush, hush, quiet.

We're all at Christian University.

Weird.

So we're thankful for that.

I've heard also that who you're around matters, which again, I think points to Christian University being a place to go to and be around people that share that similar worldview and make them valuable.

you know, make themselves stronger in it.

But also here we have a Christian institution reaching out to Christian institution to find people to, now that's not everybody's experience in the, in the ambassador program.

Well, that was a lie.

We see court case after court case where if, for example, a Christian university wants to launch a law school, and this is an actual case that happened, a Christian university wanted to launch a law school.

The Law Societies of Canada got together and said, nah, you can't because you don't support same-sex marriage.

The Christian University said, wait a minute.

You said that we can't be denied a benefit.

You said we won't be discriminated against.

Went all the way to the Supreme Court and said, all the way to the Supreme Court, and the Supreme Court said, yeah, you guys, Christian University, you make society unsafe.

Therefore, we will deny you this benefit.

That number has dropped slightly down to 58%.

Our next story looks at the top 50 largest Christian colleges and universities in the Ministry Watch database.

The rankings are determined by revenue.

Warren, what's the headline here?

Liberty University came in second at $1.9 billion.

Baylor University rounded out the top three with revenue of about $1.6 billion.

The database now tracks 166 Christian colleges and universities.

That's up 138 from last year.
