So, like, you go to downtown Doral, you'll hear this from another, a number of people, it's sort of a ghost town.

Christy Fraga, who is the mayor of Doral, who's a Republican, it- she's been on defense like, "Hey, look, you know, you know, vote your conscience.

This isn't my doing." But, you know, they did sign a 287(g) agreement with federal immigration authorities to sort of cross-deputize local police with them.

Now, ICE is doing almost all of this immigration work.

Yeah.

So this has in turn then made Doral residents, 70% of whom are immigrants and half of them, as I said, Venezuelan, angry now at their mayor, Christy Fraga, and their city council, which last year voted unanimously to partner up with ICE in that immigration enforcement cooperation deal known as 287G.

Doral officials are having, shall we say, buyer's remorse now about that.

And here's Fraga at WLRN's Sunshine Economy Summit this week insisting she's complained to President Trump about ICE operations going too far in Doral.

Sin embargo, otras alcaldas de Florida, como la del sur de Miami, se negaron en su momento a suscribir este acuerdo.

However, other mayors in Florida, such as South Miami, refused at the time to sign this agreement.

They're taking a big hit.

Mayor Christy Fraga has said the city's ability to intervene is limited.

When Doral entered the agreement, city officials said they did so based on legal advice about Florida immigration enforcement requirements.

Critics now argue the city should withdraw from the agreement.
