Well, the first thing I did was try to track down this guy, Chris Ullman, the four-time world champion, who I had heard was on the East Coast somewhere.

I found him in Washington, D.C., and asked if I could come up and talk to him and get some tips.

And he agreed to meet with me and show me the ropes and show me what sorts of whistles I needed to know and tell me how the competition worked.
