I do yeah um I do remember I remember um I remember I was able to hit a triple in the left center gap, which kind of took some of the pressure off, you know.
Chris TaylorGUEST
But, yeah, I remember joining the team in Pittsburgh and, you know, just being pretty, you know, welcomed by all the guys and actually like pleasantly surprised how – easy it was to fit in and, um, you know, kind of just be yourself.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And I think that's something that Dodgers do a great job of is like bringing guys in and like, you know, just like go out, do your thing.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And, um, yeah, no, obviously, um, there's a reason they, um, you know, a lot of the young guys that get there have so much early success.

David VasseghHOST
What do you remember the most about that 2020 season? That, that bubble run at Globe Life Field in Texas, uh, not really having much of a social life, but being with your teammates, uh, 24 seven.

What in your mind stands out the most as far as some of the moments that you had in your Dodger career that, you know, supersede others?
Chris TaylorGUEST
Yeah, I mean, individually, I think what you referenced earlier with the 21 wildcard walk-off, that was a big one for me.
Chris TaylorGUEST
Like I had struggled the entire second half of the season and ended up getting benched before the playoffs.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And I was really like scuffling and somehow I was able to, to find a barrel and hit that walk off Homer.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And then that completely, you know, turned my whole whole season around and ended up having a great, great playoff.

David VasseghHOST

Did you ever believe when you got traded from the Mariners to the Dodgers in 2016 and you showed up in Pittsburgh? that your career would take this arc and you would be throwing out the first pitch and being celebrated by Dodger fans 10 years later?
Chris TaylorGUEST
You know, I was just, at that point in my career, I was just so focused on, like, getting to the major leagues and, like, earning a spot.
Chris TaylorGUEST
I thought that I would... get um you know over 10 years in the major leagues with the pretty much all with the Dodgers um so yeah no I don't I don't know I always had a lot of confidence in myself and I always believed I would get there but um I don't know if I thought it would happen the way I did

David VasseghHOST
So when you see the montage of all the moments we've talked about over the years, how do you think you'll react?
Chris TaylorGUEST
You know what? I'm going to do my best to just soak it all in and just try to enjoy a baseball game with my family.
Silent Hill 4: The Room (with Chris Taylor - Lightning Strikes Thrice) | The Rookie Run #2

And obviously that is Walter's kind of whole motivation for going back to the apartments and committing the murders there, right? He knows that's where he was born and he thinks he's going to be able to get his mum back.
C
80:38Chris TaylorGUEST
well even walter right is like a victim of what comes before uh to like really briefly because like the culty lore stuff is not the most interesting but uh we have the and we'll try to keep it super not spoiling for the other ones but like there's a cult in silent hill there's like some sectarian differences they all want to make they all want to basically birth the devil on earth It's like a doomsday cult.
C
81:18Chris TaylorGUEST
And that's what Walter winds up getting caught up on is Dahlia Gillespie's plan B is the orphanage.

at times i thought it was maybe like are they trying to do the you know the the thing that the cult were trying to do in the earlier games are they trying to have eileen turn into this devil with that but i don't i don't really know
Chris Taylor & Dan Haylett: 3rd Annual Meet the (Un)Retirement Experts
C
23:07Chris TaylorGUEST
In fact, I just did an article on this for NBC News, uh, for folks in their 50s, like myself, um, because Gen X, generally speaking, is behind where they need to be in terms of savings.
C
23:20Chris TaylorGUEST
And not only that, but they have kids who might be in college at this point, like I do.
C
23:34Chris TaylorGUEST
So what I suggested in this article was to take full advantage of what are called catch-up contributions, because over the age of 50, you're allowed to contribute even more to your retirement accounts than anyone else is.

Chris, for listeners who are just hearing about Chi 38, can you share a story about how the sanctuary began and what moved you to make this first step?
C
2:41Chris TaylorGUEST
Sure, so in around 2013, my family lived, we rented a house in a rural area and we lived next door to a farmer's herd of cattle.
C
2:57Chris TaylorGUEST
So we started watching the cows, there was probably 30 of them, moms and babies in the field.
C

We'd watch their interactions with each other, saw that they formed friendships, they love their babies.

David VasseghCORRESPONDENT
Were you surprised that you got as much attention as you did about your retirement?
Chris TaylorGUEST
I wasn't anticipating making it public, and then it ended up getting... leaked i guess and uh then and then people thought i was unretiring and it was like kind of embarrassing so then i was like okay now i have to say something but um no it was all fine i um it was it was cool uh after i made the post or after it came out seeing um all the support i got a lot of very nice texts and um yeah it's cool to uh To see all the love, especially from Dodgers fans, obviously, playing almost 10 years with them.

David VasseghCORRESPONDENT
It was just some members of the media jumping the gun a little bit too fast.

I was away from my family for two months, you know, which was really tough and in Salt Lake, Utah.
Chris TaylorGUEST
Um, I was flying back home every Sunday night after our games for our off day on Monday and then meeting back up with a team on Tuesday.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And, you know, just to try to be here as much as I could with them while I was playing in AAA.

David VasseghHOST
Can you believe the Dodgers are in Pittsburgh right now, Chris? What do you remember about your first day in Pittsburgh wearing a Dodger uniform?

I was away from my family for two months, which was really tough, and in salt lake utah my family was here in manhattan beach um i was flying back home every sunday night after our games for our off day on monday and then meeting back up with a team on tuesday and you know just to try to be here as much as i could with them while i was playing in triple a and um that was just a really tough two-month stretch and um for me obviously being away and then for my family, um, and my, my wife kind of basically being single mom for two months, I was a grind.
Chris TaylorGUEST
And, um, so now I'm just kind of enjoying being a full-time dad, stay at home dad, spending time with my family.

And then when he gets to London, it turns out to be not better than Tunisia in a lot of ways in terms of his inability to communicate with the crew and the London crew especially.

are really just not happy with this weird, shy, glasses-wearing, big-bearded, big-haired, interloper guy who can't even, you know, kind of mumbles at you, and they're like, who is this dude? And they're just kind of, making jokes about him and about the movie the whole time.
C

You know, the studio has been cleaned, which is exactly what Lucas didn't want.

Part of George Lucas' pessimistic outlook on Star Wars certainly stemmed from the numerous delays in production, and another part came from his perfectionism, and the idea that this movie would never live up to his expectations, a feeling he still has to this day.
