And then what compelled you to want to help Tim write a story?
5:33
I collect books at home that I like and that I like the shape of and I like the story.
5:42
And I was reading some of the books and I thought, I could see the Leatherman doing something like this.
5:47
And I remember sending Tim a letter saying, I think that there's a book that you can do that embodies the Leatherman multi-tool.
5:54
What are the characteristics of a Leatherman and how can we bring that to a book? And at first, I was actually thinking, maybe it should be a book that's the size you can carry with you in your pocket.

But the more we thought about it, I thought, OK, well, if the Leatherman multi-tool is going to be there when needed, works and work when needed thank you i thought it's okay if it's not you're not going to use this tool necessarily like in the field like need it in your pocket you're going to have it on your bookshelf and when i discovered the treasure trove that tim had of the notes that he had the millions of words he had written the notes and the sketches and the patent drawings and everything okay this will be this would be a great story that we can tell that's greatly enhanced by photos and drawings and sketches.

And it just seemed it just seemed like a lot of fun is what it seemed like.

I had some all kinds of materials that I keep in preparation for interviews and it's quite thick and I gave that to Chris and he made copies so there was probably over a hundred pages of material right there and that's the start of it.
