Cause you think, Hey, that guy's going to do really well this year and, or somebody that again, nobody's looking at, but you think they should.
67:34
Well, a guy that I, I want, I went to my draft wanting just cause I think he's, you know, he's one of those military guys right now, but I think he has a chance to jump into the top seven or eight wide receivers.
67:43
It's Jalen Waddle switching teams, um, He kind of reminds me of playing like that Michael Thomas role that Sean Payton likes so much.
67:52
Plus, like he's got also that downfield threat that Bo Nix has that skill set that he likes to throw downfield.
67:59
So I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do.
68:03
Guys like Parker Washington, Josh Downs.
68:06
He's going to get a lot of targets.

84:54
Chris, what do you got for your overall drafting philosophy?
1:22
How do you- What do you think about the direction of the Mavericks and where they're trying to go? Do you like the direction that they're headed in?
1:27
It, it seems, again, like from, from the outside looking in as of right now, it seems like they're headed into a youth movement, and, and, you know, that's, I think that's what you should probably be doing right now with Cooper Flagg and the, the new rookie they have coming in.
1:40
But I, I wanna say this about, you know, Coop.
1:43
I think Coop has tremendous strides to take that next jump to legitimately be an All-Star.
1:48
Um, from what I've been hearing, he's having a great off-season, and people have tell me like they're just impressed with how his work ethic is and how he's trying to, you know, take that next leap going into his second season.
2:00
So I think the Dallas Mavericks are gonna be really sur- I'll, I'll say surprised, but I think they're gonna be really inspired by the work that Coop put in the off-season, that he's gonna, that's gonna translate to the regular season.
2:10
And guys are gonna take notice, and that's what you want from your best player, and it's also great to have your best player be a leader, too, and I think Coop is trying to evolve into that as well.
3:23
What are you hearing about those guys and their potential futures with Dallas going forward?

1:42
Does Boston have something in the tank ready to go, or do you see any other big moves coming?
1:48
Yeah, I think if Boston makes any moves moving forward now, it'll be around the edges.
1:52
This was their super move right here.
1:55
And they feel pretty good.
1:56
I spoke with people over there today.
1:58
They feel really good about how they position themselves.
2:01
They like the structure of their roster moving forward into next season.

116:52
Mm
116:52
... ultimately the D- Detroit Pistons will have to make a decision and, and see what's in their best interest if, if they can't get anywhere close on an extension.
117:03
And then likely for the Kings, what will they have to send out on something like...
117:06
I mean, I think the obvious, you look at what Detroit has done.
117:09
They've already got rid of Isaiah Stewart.
117:12
Um, and so, um, you look at, I don't know that, I don't know that they're re-signing Tobias Harris.
117:18
So they've already, you know, losing some key pieces to that team.
Jesse Tapia

Yeah

Mm

... ultimately the D- Detroit Pistons will have to make a decision and, and see what's in their best interest if, if they can't get anywhere close on an extension.
8:10

11:03
Mm.
speaker_14PANELIST
61:16
Mm-hmm.
61:16
That's a very good question.
61:17
It, it was hard when I first started because, um, when you're in it, you're like, you're, you're excited about knowing all these different people and talking to all these different people.
61:25
Uh, and then one thing I found out, you know, so 2010 was my first year covering league.
61:30
And I found out then that, um, you know, you can be easily be used at that time.
speaker_14PANELIST
64:35
Utah.
64:35
Leave Utah to go to Boston.
64:37
And I remember that because, talking about being on a rotisserie, I was on the rotisserie.
23:31
So I'm curious, this off-season, number one team you're watching for to do something big this summer?
23:38
Probably...
23:39
Well, before, if you would've asked me this a week ago, I would've said Miami.
23:46
I, I just think, uh, they've tried luring guys, they tried to, you know, semi-trade for guys.
23:53
I don't know necessarily that they've always put their best foot forward in trying to at- uh, attain guys.
23:59
And, um, I just felt like this was the year that they really had to go for it all and get a big fish.
24:05
And when I'm talking about big fish, I'm talking about Giannis Antetokounmpo.
26:09
Mm-hmm.
22:10
So I'm curious, this off-season, number one team you're watching for to do something big this summer?
22:17
Probably...
22:18
Well, before, if you would've asked me this a week ago, I would've said Miami.

22:37
And, um, I just felt like this was the year that they really had to go for it all and get a big fish.
22:44
And when I'm talking about big fish, we're talking about Giannis Antetokounmpo.
24:47
Mm-hmm.
4:03
Okay.
4:03
And then if you give me 10 seconds to tweet it, I'll do that as well.
4:07
But DP, what happened is the, the NBA right now, I was told, sources informed me that the NBA is investigating two courtside fans that towards the end of the game, of game one, um, they were directing some vulgar, profane, floppy, flopping taunts, um, at Jalen Brunson.
4:26
And that happened p- probably around tw- 20 second range, 20 seconds left in the game.
4:31
And so then after the game, Brunson goes over to Scott Foster, and he's not arguing with Scott, but Scott was right there.
4:39
He was within distance of hearing what the fans were saying.
4:42
And so Jalen was just basically telling Scott, "Hey, Scott, listen, you know, do something about this.
8:23
But I don't know if this is analytics or is this just gut feeling of making moves or not making moves?
19:52
Okay.
19:53
And then if you give me 10 seconds to tweet it, I'll do that as well.
19:56
But DP, what happened is the, the NBA right now, I was told, sources informed me, that the NBA is investigating two courtside fans that towards the end of the game, of game one, um, they were directing some vulgar, profane, floppy, flopping taunts, um, at Jalen Brunson.

24:10
Maybe substitution patterns, but I don't know if this is analytics or is this just gut feeling of making moves or not making moves.
66:24
The Lakers have always wanted him.
66:25
Yeah, yeah, the Warriors are, they're definitely a team.
66:28
Um, you know, there, there was a time, I, I was covering the Warriors back in the day when Stephen Curry and Giannis, they were, um, communicating quite a bit.
66:39
And, uh, you know, Steph would have fun with the media.
66:43
There would be times where Steph and Giannis, they'll be talking, they had their hands over their mouths and talking.
66:48
And I think one time we asked Steph, you know, about that conversation.
66:52
And, you know, he said something funny, but it was kind of like the, uh, to add fire to the flames.

15 MINS LATER

81:50
What's your sense of what the preferred path is for the Ma- Mavericks?
39:55
Yeah.
39:55
San Antonio Spurs.
39:57
Uh, the list would go on and on.
39:58
Minnesota Timberwolves.
40:00
And so ultimately, I think for Giannis, wherever he lands, I think preferably it would ...
40:05
You know, I think he would like to have some sun, he would like to be probably in a, in a, in a big market.
42:01
Right.
42:01
... and want to see what he's trying to do.
28:27
Got an update on Steph Curry's hamstring?
28:31
DP, he, he's fighting valiantly to get back.
28:34
Um, you have to, you know, let's think about Stephen Curry, one of the fiercest warriors we have in this league, one of the toughest competitors we have.
28:42
On the, I, I would say he probably has more down years left than prime years at this point.
28:49
So, uh, he is really doing everything behind the scenes to try to get back expeditiously.
28:55
And the team right now, they're trying to be cautious.
28:58
They don't want to create a spark in trying to say that Steph will be back by game five or whatever.
31:03
And I don't know, I don't know, am I being fair to Jayson Tatum by saying he's not a star, he is one of the, you know, five to seven greatest players in the game?
31:11
I don't know if the Hawks are at that point where they go, "You know, maybe we're better off without Trae Young." What do you think?
31:17
think? So, I had Tre on my show, the Hanes Briefs Show on YouTube.
31:22
Everybody check it out.
31:22
I had him on my show last week, and I, I asked him about that, um, DP, just about where he's at with the organization, with h- his, his career, and he said he's in a good spot.
31:33
He said he, he knew that there was gonna be speculation once the Hawks went to a younger core, had the number one pick.
31:41
He knew there was gonna be speculation about his future, but he said he, he bought in.
31:45
He took the, you know, Zach, number one pick, he brought him to his hometown of Oklahoma, uh, to show him around and spend some time with him right after Zach was drafted just to get him engaged.
34:32
Every one of these series, you, you can say, "Are you able to win four?" And I think they, I think they could go to the Western Conference Finals, and I don't know if anybody would be surprised, but would you be more surprised if the Warriors went to the Western Conference Finals or the Lakers did?
29:12
I don't know if the Hawks are at that point where they go, "You know, maybe we're better off without Trae Young." What do you think?
29:20
So, I had Trae on my show, the Haynes Briefs show on YouTube.
