Chris Difford

but next week we'll discuss a British band that started out in the mid-1970s.

We'll see how their songwriters, Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford, were once considered the heirs to the Lennon-McCartney throne, because the truth is, these men could write some invigorating melodies and lyrics, so I hope you'll join me then.

Bye-bye.

See how they run like pigs from a gunfire

I did two days on a building site, managed to get a massive gash in my palm, ended up in hospital and getting shouted at by a load of Geordie Labourers because I'd bled all over some pipes and thought, this is really not for me.

And then a friend of mine, Gary Wallace, said that Glenn Silbrook and Chris Difford were looking for a drummer for a musical they were doing at the Albany Empire.

And long story short, I ended up getting that job at 17.

And I remember this lovely lady who was a stage manager said, so you were born on 31st of May, 1964.

This is worth two points.

Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford formed which band in 1974 and had their first chart entry four years later with the song Take Me, I'm Yours? I'm

sorry, I've just never heard those names.

No, I can't think of anything else.

Just, you know, and it's just a, a fun, great, well-written song.

Probably, I guess, Chris Difford probably wrote it 'cause he wrote so, he writes all the lyrics customarily for Squeeze, so.

Um, it's got some blue-eyed soul to it 'cause you got Paul Carrack in there with the, with the-

Yeah

We were in a pub.

And Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook were there as well.

And they did chat us up long

before everyone was married.

And then Suzanne... uh, Hunt is the manager of Glenn and co-manager of Squeeze.

And I, I managed Chris Difford and co-managed Squeeze.

And, um, so I look after all Chris's solo stuff as well.

He does, they both do a lot of solo stuff, you know, um, and together, together we do Squeeze and that.

I mean, the band's Oasis, all their great albums.

Yeah.

Well, Chris Difford, who does his own, to bring this back again, does a solo show.

And it's almost like a stand-up comedy show as well.
