Is that something that you would have been happy with considering where the team had been six months ago or is it a little bit more complicated than that?

Well, inevitably it is a bit more complicated than that, yes, but you're right to say that at that point, at the tail end of last season, it did look probably more likely than not that Aberdeen would finish 11th and more likely than not that the result of that would be to lose a relegation playoff against one of the teams that that would have been trying to come up from the championship.

In that respect, that was the job that Robinson was initially given to do.

And he was successful in doing that, albeit that there was There were certainly elements of good fortune in some of those games, particularly with Grant Hanley getting sent off in the game against Hibs and Kilmarnock repeatedly hitting the crossbar in the game that we played against them.

So they kind of limped over the line, but did what needed to be done.

However, it is also true to say that Steven Robinson was not brought in as a caretaker or as a Warnock style firefighter.

He was given, I think, a three and a half year contract to come to the club and build something.
