Chris Borland

It's funny.

Chris Borland told me yesterday that once you get over the hump of like you're in this dark little teeny – it's not that teeny, but it's not that big space with water.

He's like once you get over that, it's like the most – It's like life altering the change.

I just assume.

Fred Warner is absolutely special.

And the fact that the 49ers have had a linebacker run of this century of Patrick Willis, Navarro Bowman, Chris Borland for that one year, remember, and then right into Fred Warner too.

Um, Uh, that's two hall of fame linebackers, a hall of very good linebacker and a one year wonder linebacker.

That is a pretty good, uh, history there.

By saying we're never gonna be those schools is, the Badgers can't just roll their helmet out there and beat the snot out of anyone, ever.

Like, their best players always were, like, Chris Borland, three-star guy.

J.J. Watt, a transfer.

Like, Russell Wilson, an afterthought from NC State.

Did you hear

Chris Borland? Remember the linebacker from Wisconsin who retired early because of CTE or whatever? He did a piece in The Athletic talking about his life now after football.

And he said he loved Jim Harbaugh.

Harbaugh drafted him.

You know, and I want to point out just as a side note for people.

We have spoken before to Chris Borland on this podcast, and Chris Borland, rightly, was a widely celebrated figure for making the decision to retire for very similar reasons from the NFL.

And that was one of the key moments, I think, in changing a wider conversation about head injury and football.

But Jabo made that decision.

The best way I know how to answer that question is I still the way that I frame my medical retirement is that I was I was able to make that decision.

Yeah, I was I was lucky enough to be able to make that decision for myself.

I bet Chris Borland would have said exactly the same thing.

Chris Borland, I would wager that he had a family unit or environment that allowed him to make the decision to stop playing after a year in the NFL or two years or however long he played, right? I was able to make that decision.
