He's the front man of Deftones.

Today, Beba Doobie talks about her fourth album, Pylon, and how her personal and professional growth shaped the album.

Pylon, named in part for Electricity Towers, which reminded her of her connection to friends and family while she was isolated on tour over the past few years, also includes a lot of the friends she's made, like Hayley Williams, Turnstile's Brendan Yates, and Chino Moreno of Deftones.

Chino Moreno of Deftones appears on her new album, Pylon.

I'm going to play a clip of Satellite because I do want people to hear your voice in the chorus because it sounds like Biba Doobie, but you also do a pretty good Deftones kind of like yell in there that I heard it right away.

It's got a ton of guest artists on it, if I'm not mistaken.

... uh, you know, H- Hayley Williams on it, uh, Brendan Yates.

I loved it so much.

The ending, when it ends, and then that bass nectar and Chino Moreno song.

Oh my god, it's so fantastic.

So needless to say, I am seated for a new Resident Evil.

The

funniest thing is Chino Moreno from the Deftones was two rows ahead of us and no one was bothering him.

And I noticed him right when he turned around to see the shrine.

And

I think that's when everybody noticed him was when I went to pull the camera out because I noticed him.

Amazing.

Yeah, Chino's a huge fan, you know, and they're good friends too.

But if I saw Chino at that show, I'd be like, Chino, get up

Aaron and I have a good thing when it comes to his vocal.

And I know from being friends with Chino Moreno from Deftones, I've known that guy for 30 plus years, he's definitely got a couple of vocal chains that he's used on every song and every record he's ever made.

A good singer and a singer who pays attention to their records, I think they kind of know what works and they bring it with them and it's part of their sound.

So you don't want to force that on someone, but when the combination comes together and it helps them to perform as well.

[laughs] Acoustics says, "Nuts to butts is a wild phrase." [laughs] Um, yeah, Burt McCracken from The Used did a stage dive from the speaker stack at Warped.

I think he did that because he saw Chino Moreno do it.

Um, you know, there's the footage of Eddie Vedder at one of those big festivals.

Maybe it was Woodstock '94, and he's, like, walked all the way up to the, the lighting trellis, and he's hanging off it doing the thing and- You know, there's all these, these scenes of people doing that shit, and it's successful, and it looks like the coolest thing in the world.
