And then like, well, I'll wait till later when we get into all these blind children and stuff in this doll, I have thoughts, but, uh, Yeah, no, I mean, like I said, just for me, I was like, I kind of wish more happened with the doll.
R
73:49RowanHOST
Maybe that's just my abnormal love for, you know, Puppet Master and Child's Play or something.
R
73:55RowanHOST

Episode 6 - Funny Games (1997) with Jamie
J
57:16JamieGUEST
But it explores very similar values to Funny Games, with the idea of that just intense claustrophobia, but as a person with their morals intact, you would probably do the same.
R
57:30Rob Lopez-LambertHOST
yeah and you lose for it and it's such a like you're like but i've and you're like no you're not doing anything wrong but you will lose and that's what's so horrible about it when they remade that they just had this whole ending that didn't make sense and i think it must have been a groundbreaking thing at the time for it to have such a horrible ending because i i just i only imagine that I think there'd have been some things, obviously the 80s and 90s, like I'm trying to think of, I can only really think of slashers like Child's Play and Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street and stuff like that that would have been, because they're quite campy anyway.
R
58:06Rob Lopez-LambertHOST
Yeah.
R
58:06Rob Lopez-LambertHOST
So the ending's not really that important.

He was also the designer and puppeteer of the original Chucky doll in Child's Play and subsequently married the main actress, Catherine Hicks, from Child's Play.

K
29:03KatHOST
yeah and that was like I said my biggest gripe with that I know it was the 80s I know there are a lot of movies where you know we see teen shower scenes and all kinds of stuff in the 70s 60s fuck they were doing it then too and I'm just kind of like nobody said or the person who probably did say it was unfortunately not the loudest one in the room that was like hey I don't know if this is a good idea I don't know And also, like, Tom Holland directed this.
K
29:28KatHOST
I'm not sure how his hands was in the writer's room, but, I mean, he came back and directed Child's Play, so clearly he's taking the crew with him.
K

B
62:23BobHOST
I mean, it looks like they did a really good job putting all that stuff together.
B
62:27BobHOST
Um, this being written by Tom Holland from, you know, Fright Night and Child's Play fame, I think that was, like, a good idea to hire him in the early 80s to, like, try and pin a sequel to, again, like, one of the most influential horror movies of all time.
B
62:42BobHOST
Um, Richard Franklin, the director, I wasn't familiar with him.
B
62:46BobHOST
I had to, like, look into some of the other stuff that he did.
