Chicago College of Performing Arts

want to talk about you studying musical theater.

You studied musical theater at Chicago College of Performing Arts.

Yeah.

You know, we didn't have this boom in diversity casting, especially in musical theater.

Hi there, I'm Tammy Mader.

I'm from the Chicago College of Performing Arts.

We are housed in a social justice institution, Roosevelt University, founded on protest.

So we train artists, citizens.

And I, um, started and based my performing career regionally out of Chicago and, uh, always taught on the side, like many performers.

And I star- I joined the, um, the voice faculty in the musical theater program at CCPA 20 years ago in 2006.

Wow.

And, uh, I, I worked there, um, as an adjunct and artist faculty, uh, for years, and then I joined the full-time faculty.

Yeah.

What kind of opportunity...

What does that look like at CCPA?

Yeah.

But s- but somehow, like sort of by the grace of serendipity and just the universe and the way the world works, um, Bernard introduced me to this wonderful world of horn players.

And, um, and though I still, I am on the faculty currently at, uh, the Chicago College of Performing Arts in Chicago, I, um, I ended up Kind of moving my, my musical and artistic home, um, up into the Chicago area.

It's not a terrible commute.

I'm on campus a couple of days a week.
