Chestermere

much for chatting with me here in beautiful Red Deer at the MCMC Summit.

What brings the City of Chestermere to talk to 25 other mid-sized cities across Alberta?

Well, yeah, first of all, excited to be here.

For me, it's about the opportunity to learn from each other.

But if I wanted to take on a task that would be easy, I would not have gone to be an elected official.

So I absolutely believe that there is hope, I absolutely believe that there is optimism, and I think that it has to be an effort on all of our parts.

So another thing that we've done at the City of Chestermere is we've engaged our not-for-profit sector on this as well, and we said, Let's put out messaging together.

Let's work together.

Check this out.

Okay, ready? Our old stomping ground, Chestermere.

Chestermere.

Cops, the cop- the cops went to, uh, visit some lady there.

Really?

You wanna know what she said for the RCMP to show up? What do you think she said?

Uh, invade.

Chestermere.

Police have charged two people and are looking for a third in an alleged extortion case.

A 17-year-old boy who cannot be named and 23-year-old Kanyarik Kaur of Chestermere are both charged with extortion.

Police say the incident happened March 25th in the northeast neighborhood of Skyview.

A woman received threatening messages via WhatsApp and about 12 hours later gunshots were fired at her home.

The youth cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

As the investigation continued, investigators arrested a woman on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, who allegedly provided personal information about the victim.

That lady is Kanurit Kaur, 23, from Chestermere.

And there is obviously this muppet.

So that was the hub for the thing the whole time.

And then it went from there to Chestermere and so on and so on.

And people are familiar with the Chestermere forward story since most have been alive at that time.

So it was really Clyde Paul stewardship starting in about 32 all the way to 57.

He was a lot more hands-off.
