9:31Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
So I went through a very similar situation and I like to say like I'm a journaling hater because that's where I was.
C
9:42Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
Yes, because the thing is you learn so much, but then it's also like super awkward to get started.
C
9:53Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
Like let's set a timer for five minutes and just let whatever happened happen.

Carla WardHOST
Is there any other advice that you want to share with people listening about confidence, self-trust, journaling, any of that?
More Than a Gift Shop: The Heart Behind Main Street Art Collective

Alyssa RogersHOST
So how do you go about finding what you're going to offer and showcase in the store?
C
3:45Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
A lot of times, I'll be at an event and I will see vendors set up, and I'll really like their things.
C
3:49Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
I'll talk to them or connect and tell them that I have a shop and ask if they'll be interested and, and that's one way.
C
3:55Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
And sometimes other vendors, some of my vendors, will be at a show, and they will connect with somebody, and they'll tell them, "You need to come be at the shop I'm at." Um, sometimes people find me on Facebook, and they contact me, and they say, "I wanna be a part of what you got going on." So it's kind of a, a group effort to, to get people in.

Well, they had to close, but Amy is a dear friend, and she's had a couple pop-ups the last couple weekends.
C

And she, we decided to partner together, and she is creating a little toy shop in the back room.
C
10:12Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
So we're excited about that and that she [laughs] should have that ready, um, by the end of the week, hopefully.
How Do You Build a Physical Product Brand That Creates Real Word of Mouth? ft. Lisa Simone Richards and Cheryl Sutherland

Cheryl, what about you? I feel like even as you expand into different products and how they're used, the price points on them, how are you continuing to center? This is the experience I want my customers to have when they see it, feel it, touch it, sniff it, whatever else they're going to do with it.
C
20:52Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
It's funny you say that because somebody actually posted something about like buying another Please Notes journal and how I love the way they smell.
C
20:58Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
I'm like, girl, are you okay? But also like, if that's what it is, if that's what it is.
C
21:12Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
Ideally, if I was if I am to become a hundred million dollar business, this is something that I would want to have now so that when I'm approaching retail buyers, that they're clear that they can easily sell and move my product.
C
21:25Cheryl SutherlandGUEST
One of the things that we do do that is quite unique in comparison to some of the other templated journals out there.

Nikki McKnightHOST
So how are you approaching that go-to-market strategy of continuing to connect with customers, IRL as it were?
