Chelan

And I've been looking forward to this day when we got Sheriff Tyler, that's Douglas County Sheriff Tyler Kale back on the phone because he made a promise the last time he was on here.

And he said, we're not just going to arrest one person in this Chelan Hills wildfire.

The one that killed a man, the one that burned up 100 homes, the one that did all that tremendous damage and put so many lives at risk.

and $6 million in lawsuits to boot on top of all that.

How are you? I'm well as well.

And tell me this, because I recall that you you are particularly critical.

You said, look, yes, we've arrested a local man near Chelan and Michael Yakimov, but he won't be the only person we arrest and we will go to the other side of the state if we have to.

And it appears you've now done that to some extent.

And, and within Washington, there's such a diversity in growing regions.

You know, you have super hot sites, you know, Red Mountain and some of the Yakima Valley, and then you have some higher elevation sites, Naches Heights AVA and Chelan and the Gorge, which are producing, like, these really beautiful delicate whites and reds.

And so yeah, you can really, as a wine maker, you can really do whatever you want and source from, you know, just within Washington State.

So it's a really, it's a pretty unique place to be making wine in, in that sense, so.

And a bunch of people that are going to come on the Scab Lounge one, which is now in June.

Of course, the Chelan was canceled.

We do have the trip in June now.

Next June, beginning of next June, we're going to lock in the date.

Um, that one was only 69, 9 miles.

And so that day I actually pushed from Kashmir all the way to Chelan.

Um, so that was about 210 to 20, um, miles for the day, and uh, that was probably my roughest day, 'cause it, it, it didn't feel right to stop at, like, 11:00 after 70 miles and, um-

It's in between, uh, Twisp and...

No, no, no, excuse me.

It's in between Chelan and Cashmere, 'cause-

Oh, okay.

I know people from Puyallup who say bagel.

I know someone from Chelan area who says bagel.

So that's my theory.

But now I need to get this soft.

Our next hunt was from seven till four, up and down, in the presence of noble and lonely mountains.

The straight peaks which marshal round the lake of Chelan were in our view nearby, beyond the valley of the Twisp, and the whole Cascade range rose endlessly and seemed to fill the world.

Except in Switzerland I have never seen such an unbroken area of mountains.

And all this beauty going begging, while each year our American citizens of the East, more ignorant of their own country and less identified with its soil than any race upon earth, herd across the sea to the table de haute they know by heart.

That was a fun trip.

Then over the 4th of July weekend, we flew up to see my cousin and her family in Chelan, Washington.

We've been up there several times before.

They're right on Lake Chelan, live in this beautiful lake home with a bunch of other tech billionaires and things um and we had a great time on the lake but every five seconds we were getting a fire evacuation alert dude it was insane there was so much fire up there we never did end up having to evacuate because it wasn't like the area that we were in but it was very close which is what Nevada has been going through recently as

well.

But that was good to see them.
