Because I know that they studied the source material.

And by that, I mean All-Star Cheer.

Because both of those were not regular, typical high school cheer teams.

They got inspiration from All-Star Cheer.

Yeah, we're not on the sidelines at the football game.

We're in national championship competition.

And remember that we saw this with Cheer.

Like, this was the model for Cheer.

They first, I think private equity first got into cheerleading as the first sport where they started taking over 'cause they were taking over the uniforms and all the merch, and it was like this universe.

I was very competitive growing up, video games, all that fun stuff.

And then my little sister was involved in All-Star Cheer before I was.

They had a boy get hurt about three weeks before their big nationals.

It was a small program.

The parent involvement has gotten a lot more at every practice, parties, this, that.

Do you think it's because the parents grew up in All Star Cheer, or like it just became-

Maybe different gen- That's a good, that's a good point.

You know?

It's true.

A lot of people say But I'm a Cheerleader was before its time, but it was actually very much of its time.

Honey, we think you're a lesbian.

I myself was once a gay.

I'm not.

Denial is a normal part of the healing process that we'll explore.

I went into filmmaking wanting to be political, and I do think But I'm a Cheerleader was politics for me.

[laughs] And one of the reasons I wanted to be a filmmaker is I thought the way to change people's hearts and minds is to seduce them with a story and with laughing, and while they're laughing, teach them something.

I mean, some would argue it shouldn't have been there in the first place.

It's like, no. Cheerleading.

Put cheerleading on.

There are other sports that could definitely go in there for breakdancing.

If you were like Willow and had never watched the show up until five days ago.

Like what is America's Sweetheart's Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders documentary? So it is a documentary and it showcases the entire year from the beginning of their audition process to all the way to the end of the year.

So in between there's like auditions, training camp, making the team and all of that shows people getting cut.

And then it shows the whole year.

So it shows like clips of special moments and standout moments between auditions.

the actual football season and then towards the end of the year then it actually shows the cheerleaders decision they communicate their decision to the heads of the organization as to if they're planning to re-audition next year or if they're not planning to re-audition and essentially giving back their their costumes or their uniforms so yeah it shows like a pretty full year And Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, they go by DCC.

So a lot of times we'll be saying DCC because that's the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders.

So yeah, DCC also had a reality show.

And then I also...

The whole second half of the show is me kind of revealing who Cheer Dad is, who made me Cheer Dad.

I end with talking about my daughter and Alicia and my own upbringing.

And so... you sort of also get a little bit at the end about who Cheer Dad is and where he came from.

So it's kind of like a little bit of my origin story at the end as well, all through the form of stand-up comedy.

Because most of my stand-up has always been autobiographical.

But yeah, so I'm excited.

I'm excited.
