Following his education at Manchester Polytechnic and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, he served as an officer in the British Army before embarking on a successful career in the City of London, including senior roles in investment management, notably as a director at Rathbones Investment Management.

A fellow and board member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment, Robert has also dedicated many years to public service, serving as Alderman for the Ward of Cheap and holding leadership roles across a range of charitable, educational and city institutions.

He has represented the UK's financial professional services sector around the world and remains a respected advocate for the city of London as a leading global financial centre.
