Charlotte FC beat FC Dallas 3-2.

The Charlotte Independence won 3-0 against the New York Cosmos.

And down in Tampa Bay, the Carolina Ascent went south and beat up on the Tampa Bay Sun, the only team they have lost to so far this season.

They got their revenge, winning 3-0 in Tampa.

So they're not going to drop any further on the table.

Everything is lining up for Charlotte, and this really does mean a lot to the players, to the front office.

Everybody is locked in on hitting the shield for Charlotte Independence.

That would be monumental for the program.

Um, but yeah, this is, th- this is, this is another case here where it's like, you know, Columbia, South Carolina, big city in a state that does not have professional soccer.

I mean, of course, I would assume a lot of South Carolinians go up to, like, Charlotte, you know, for, like, Charlotte FC or Charlotte Independence.

But now you're talking about bringing soccer into your community, and you've gotta figure out in the next year how that happens.

And whether it happens or not, Robert, is...

We did have a goal and much like the Charlotte independence goal earlier in the afternoon, uh, our goal was offsides.

The difference is that VAR is awfully selective.

And the only play in the match that they looked at for a potential VAR was the goal that Charlotte scored.

Who knows how many next year? But, uh, a lot to play for.

I think that's Union Omaha, Charlotte Independence, uh, Forward Madison, and AC Boise, some very entertaining teams, all clinched so far.

That run of difficult opponents for Fort Wayne starts Saturday afternoon at the second-place Charlotte Independence, one of three league clubs that has already earned a playoff berth.

Charlotte enters the week two points behind Union Omaha for the Players' Shield awarded to the club that ends the regular season with the best record.

Charlotte Independence is 17, five and five, 56 points plus 24 goal differential, second place.
