So, you know, he's really sealed his deal all the way around, um, as far as, uh, how he will be interpreted.

On December the 10th of 2008, while he was housed at Charlotte Correctional Institution, Robertson fashioned a garrote from several socks tied together and strangled the sleeping Hart.

Court records and his own statements established that the attack was unprovoked.

Robertson told investigators he planned and carried out the killing specifically so he would be charged with first-degree murder and sent to death row, where he believed conditions would be better than the restrictive close m- uh, close management confinement that he had endured for a l- uh, for years.

It's attacking an officer or rape and what have you.

But under close management at the Charlotte Correctional Institution, Robert was confined to a cell for 23 hours a day, stripped of his personal property, and denied visitation rights.

And he called those conditions inhumane and

torture.

All Florida executions are carried out via lethal injection of a sedative, a paralytic, and a drug that stops the heart.

According to court records, Robertson was incarcerated in Charlotte Correctional Institution north of Fort Myers in December of 2008 when he tied several socks together and strangled Hart while the other man slept.

Robertson told investigators that the attack was unprovoked and that he killed his cellmate so that he would be sentenced to death rather than having to live out his days in prison.

Robertson was 17 years old when he went to prison in 1980 for burglary and assault.

He said he murdered his cellmate to force the issue.

Robertson faces execution today for the December 2008 murder of his cellmate, Frank Hart, at the Charlotte Correctional Institution.

This will be Florida's 17th execution this year.

There is an 18th execution, and is scheduled for November 5th for Jesse Guardado.
