Charlie Cardinal

So that was my freshman year.

And I was – by the time I was a senior and had been performing with them all these years, I became the guy that was approaching freshmen going, have you ever heard about the art of mime? So – and in the meantime, my junior and senior year at Ball State, I also – uh auditioned and and made it into the being the mascot uh i was charlie cardinal which is a big bird suit with yellow tights on my legs and big floppy feet i've got great legs for that by the way it's six three and 135 pounds you can imagine And so I did that for two years and I became I was a very interactive mascot.

I think I watched the mascots before me and saw that they kind of stood at the side of the court or or the football field and kind of flapped their wings here and there and.

you know, it didn't, I didn't have see much participation.

And I got, I had the fans pass me up the stands a couple of times.

And I, I played with, I, I, I, uh, tormented the poor guy who swept the floor between, uh, at halftime of basketball, you know, there's a mopper that goes around and I would mess with him, set to music.

So anyway, to this day, Ball State has still said that I was the best Charlie Cardinal they ever had.

So I don't want to boast or anything, but they also took credit for being my first costumed character where my head was completely obliterated.

It was in the write-up at, at vsin.com, which those usually go up on Friday morning, Friday afternoon for college football, and then Saturday morning, afternoon for the NFL Sunday.

Uh, and I had Charlie Cardinal as well, and they held on against Northwestern.

That was kind of a predictable spot, right? Where they opened up the new stadium against Penn State and blew out the Nittany Lions.

Now you got, you know, lowly Ball State coming in, and Ball State hung within the number.
