Road cycling, when was the last time we came top three in a road worlds? I don't really think we have in a little while, since Cavendish and those days.
Matthew PiaroHOST

Punchard was actually doing a lot of work at the very front during lap five.
Matthew PiaroHOST

In a later interview, he said he was trying to help out Charlie Aldridge, his teammate on Cannondale Factory Racing.
Matt HansonHOST
9:30

So we saw him.
Matthew PiaroHOST
9:44
Well, he slipped off in around lap six.
Matthew PiaroHOST

Owen CouttsPANELIST

At a point it was evident he wasn't going to be in the fight for the win and as such he probably didn't go 100% on his way to a distant 30th place.
Dan LloydHOST
11:43
Up front there were two Brits fighting it out, Pidcock and also European champion Charlie Aldridge.
Dan LloydHOST
11:49
Once he made the front group Pidcock sat in for a bit but made a series of attacks over the closing two laps distancing his rivals one by one.
Dan LloydHOST

Aldridge was the last to get dropped but he did manage to hold on for the silver medal.

In the pits... someone else's pit crew have helped another pit crew out and stuff I've witnessed that with my eyes and it's just phenomenal to watch not take over but just come in and give a helping hand when there's stress going on and the wheels coming out and all that stuff and it just it helps to have another kind of chief mechanic there The Frenchies hammered down the first two laps, put a good gap in but Pigcock just got up to the front of the main group and just churned away lap after lap, didn't stress himself too much, just went and went and went and then just caught up with them, hung around there for a while and then went out the front.
Mark McQuaidHOST
27:06
a couple of the Frenchies were able to stay with him for a while but then obviously the early laps anyone who worked in them early laps kind of just blew a gasket and then it was the two Brits for a while and just seeing the two of them you're going what makes a good XE rider here what body build makes a good XE rider Tom Peacock is about 45 kilos wet through and Charlie Aldridge is an absolute unit and suddenly Charlie Aldridge on his little funny one fork legged Cannondale weird thing we're not even going there don't even no not around next year no more canada factory racing all right yeah pull the plug but he like you think that he's had he's had a few great results this year so i say he'll find a home but um he just wasn't able to stay with him tom just hammered down and just just like he has the skill and ability of all the tech sections
Al RedmondHOST
27:58
like i think he'd probably do well downhill
Mark McQuaidHOST
28:01
yeah yeah he probably would
Al RedmondHOST
28:03
yeah imagine i'm doing it yeah
Mark McQuaidHOST
28:05
I'm surprised he's never he's a previous EMTB world champ he won the first ever EMTB world championships XC world championships yeah it was the only EMTB world champs at the time yeah so yeah just he's a some animal on a bike 5th place Adrian Bwashi who won the Short Track World Champs that's right probably wrecked from that he's had a hell of a season in fairness unreal so he was always going to be present Martin Vadori 4th place from Chile Cole Punchard canadian in third charlie aldridge second and tom pickock first
Al RedmondHOST
28:49
and we had a chris dawson was uh irish he was what top 30 was he

Johan BruyneelHOST
50:54
Uh, Chaudry Aldr- C- Charlie Aldridge is also big, but you know, he is a pure specialist.
Johan BruyneelHOST
51:00
And so I would, I would guess technically he has the edge over, over Mathieu van der Poel.
Johan BruyneelHOST
51:05
Uh, and then of course, Pidcock is the exception.
David MillarHOST
4:13
Pidcock did, and ended up destroying them and won the race.
David MillarHOST
4:16
But Charlie Aldridge, another British rider, came second, which is an incredible ride.
David MillarHOST
4:19
So that was, that was race one.
David MillarHOST
4:21
Then I flicked across to the European Gravel Championships-

Alex HuntGUEST
34:09
Um, but it's always been you've had to run, if you wanna run a lockout it's gonna have to be cable operated, whereas-
