Charleston

So I went to high school in central Illinois, and then I went to college at Southern, spent a year in Paducah, Kentucky, and then just sort of traveled around.

I went to Eastern, which is in Charleston, Illinois, and then I went to Northern, which is at DeKalb.

And now I'm in Elgin, so when people ask where I'm from, I just say Illinois.

Sure, sure.

Anytime I went out somewhere like at night and I was walking home, I'd pass by this alley and she's like, oh, I have like an exact, you know, I have my own alley, but she went to a different town.

And so I love connections like that where people tell me like, yeah, I knew a place like this.

Or sometimes they think they know the place and they'll tell me specifically like, is this in Gurney or whatever? And I'm like, no, this is in Charleston.

But they feel so connected and like familiar to it.

So my mom and I got in the car and started driving.

On the way back from Missouri, I said, can we stop in Charleston, Illinois? Because I want to see about this Division II national champion, you know, Eastern.

I want to see, you know.
