And she got really angry at a guest who asked for red wine.

Now, this was back in the days of Two Buck Chuck.

I know there's a lot of women listening who know exactly what it is I'm talking about.

It was Charles Shaw was the name of the wine.

At least a lot of the women liked it.

So I think it has something to do with that.

I, I, I wanna say our weekly grocery, we were probably around 30, $40 a week that we could spend for all of our food.

My guest today has been building her company for 14 years, lives in a building she loves in the Financial District of New York City, travels constantly, and once fed two people on $40 a week to keep her company alive.

You know, when you said that, it was important, because we're out of time, but I do want to cover something, because...

When Charles Shaw came out in 2004, there was a huge glut in the wine trade.

Grapes were hanging on the vine, never picked.

But I reversed the math, right? I took the bottle cost, the label cost, the box cost, the transportation, the profit for Trader Joe's, profit for Shaw.

So within the green tea world, you could get confused, and it's similar to wine.

Like if you go to the grocery store and just get green tea tea bags, what does, what does that mean? You're just, like, getting the, the equivalent of low-grade Two Buck Chuck red wine from Trader Joe's.

So within green tea, just like within black tea, there's gonna be cultivars or cultivated varieties.

So like in the wine world, you'll, there you'll have a Merlot, you'll have a, a Cab, you'll have a Malbec.

I believe inflation has taken to Charles Shaw wine.

Taken a toll on the nickname.

Yeah, so I'm pretty sure when they introduced it in 2001, this was Two Buck Chuck.

I would think so, too.

Yeah, all right, Two Buck Chuck.

It is, in fact, Two Buck Chuck.

I think we're up to Three Buck Chuck now.

I think that's about right.

I wanted to go home after fifteen minutes.

He made some dry joke about the experimental crust and somehow bought us another hour and a bottle of Two Buck Chuck.

That non-date became four years of jumping hurdles side by side, from campus jobs and cramming through finals to summers in different states to one impossible, perfect year living out of suitcases in Boston's cheapest sublet.

We got married a few years after graduation in a sweaty pocket park with our parents half-shocked we actually went through with it.
