I keep saying it all gets more creative as you think about it.

But let me start with you, Charles, on that.

What exactly does this president get from this fight with the media? Because one thing that he is known for and praised for among a lot of his base members has been that he can, you know, fight with the press, that he gets to spar and he believes to show his force and authority.

No, I do believe that this is just part of the character of the man.

I heard a while ago that she was a trumper.

And she was talking, Charles Blow actually showed the clip of her talking about immigrants and saying, you don't come over here and want to change this and her house and what America is to her.

And it's like, you old bat, shut up.

This is not yours.

I just had an event in Baltimore yesterday at the Reginald Lewis Museum in conversation with Michelle Martin from NPR.

Charles Blow calls him Donald Trump.

So anyone who understands Trump and his brand of politics could read through the code when the White House announced that the president was coming to North Carolina to talk about crime.

Okay.

We now have a curated media where people are like, "I don't wanna hear the truth.

I wanna pretend that the Vietnam War was actually lost because of the hippies." Well, you just watch Fox, and they'll just give you the truth that says, "Brown people bad, brown people bad, immigrants bad, immigrants bad." And then if you watch MSNBC, you get, "Trump bad, Trump bad, Trump bad, Trump bad." If you watch CNN, you get this weird mix of like, "I'm fake i-i-independent 'cause I put a crazy right-winger on a panel with Charles Blow," right? And pretend that they're equals, [chuckles] you know, and they're not, but we just pretend they are and let them fight it out.

And so we're getting a media that actually isn't real and isn't telling us the truth.

But the, the thing you said about the jobs numbers, that's where the problem comes in.

And that is why Donald Trump won.

It's desperation, right? It, it means that the Donald Trump messaging has failed.

It's hard to believe in the age of Trump that demonization and demagoguery have a limit, but they do.

It is about me.

It is hard for you to lie directly to me about something that I am experiencing, that I am feeling, and the- the- the Donald Trump brand has been damaged by this, and therefore all Republican, all MAGA has been damaged by it, and that's why they're desperate at this moment in sending them out on the campaign trail.
