But then I was looking and the first picture that I pulled up when I looked up Comiskey Park vendors showed a vending stand outside the stadium that was selling a bunch of different hats.

One of those hats was a Montreal Expos hat.

And the owner of the White Sox, Charles Comiskey, did not pay the players very much money.

And they felt like they were underpaid, even though they were dominant.

Greg writes, the St. Louis Cardinals originally formed as the St. Louis Brown Stockings in 1882, playing in the American Association, then shortened the name to the Browns the following year.

They became the dominant team in the AA as manager Charles Comiskey guided St. Louis to four pennants in a row from 85 to 1888.

However, the AA folded in 1891 and the Browns transferred to the National League, where they continue to play to this day.

The 1890s began a rough patch for the Browns, so maybe it was an attempt at nominative determinism in 1899 when they changed their name to the Perfectos.
