Mary sat quietly and watched the handsome man's legs blown off.

Watched further as the great ship began to crumple and break into small pieces in the middle of the blazing night.

It was this kind of down in horror.

You know, there's this huge horror boom in the 1950s where you've got people like Ray Bradbury and Robert Block and Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont up and running.

And then, you know, that leads to kind of the Twilight Zone and Thriller and the Outer Limits.

And, you know, you've got this wonderful and then you have the horror monster kid boom in the 60s.

Chris is a filmmaker and author and a love of Rod Serling and he spoke about the horror genre that he's involved in and he also writes for Fangoria Magazine.

Next was a virtual Zoom call with R.C. Mathewson, son of Richard Mathewson, and Chris Beaumont, who's the son of Charles Beaumont.

Both of those guys talked about their father's legacies and the different historical aspects that were brought up from historian Roger Anker, who joined them on the call.

After their presentation, there was an exploration on Rod and his Jewish faith.

Out there are untold people who carry around some fragment of Rod Serling, a story, a line of dialogue, a scene, an image that attached itself to their memories.

Millions and millions of people who don't know the names Rod Serling or Richard Matheson, Charles Beaumont, George Clayton Johnson, and Earl Hamner, Jr., or the other writers who wrote plays for the theater Rod Serling built when he created The Twilight Zone.

This is something I really wanted to do.

For the record, those writers are Jerry Saul, Montgomery Pittman, Martin Goldsmith, Robert Presnell, E. Jack Newman, William Idelson, John Farah, Richard DeRoy, Jerry McNeely, John Tomarin, Bernard Schoenfield, Robert Enrico, Adele Strassfield, Anthony Wilson, Reginald Rose, and Ray Bradbury.

Any thoughts on that?

Yeah, no, I definitely wanted to see that one because the sons of two of the four pillars of the Twilight Zone writers, right, Matheson and Beaumont, and it's interesting that I didn't know that they both, I didn't know the families were so intertwined.

You know, they have sons who are around the same age, and obviously we all know about Charles Beaumont, Went to an unfortunate, untimely early death.

And after that, his wife passed away not long after.

I would certainly not put her in the top tier, maybe bottom-middle tier, but... yeah it's it was a bit of a journey and and i still think it's okay it's not great but it's okay our friend lisa said i placed it at the middle tier because it's entertaining but i could see the ending a mile away thank you lisa my friend ben kirkham says lower mid-tier for me it's very humdrum and has always struck me as a poorer relation to long live walter jameson Not a bad episode, but not a very memorable one.

And technically speaking, although this was his last credited episode, I very much doubt Charles Beaumont had anything to do with this.

I think it might be exclusively Jerry Saul.

As the episode progresses, the heroine becomes increasingly heretic, eventually appearing in full Egyptian garb, while the accompanying music reaches its own crescendo in parallel.

I noticed that only the male lead comes into physical contact with the Beatle, while Pamela is given a plastic one, which makes sense and is what I would have preferred myself.

As for Charles Beaumont, I think he may actually be my favorite Twilight Zone writer, simply because of the originality, intensity, and moodiness of his stories.

Not all of them have a profound message, but they are always poetic, enigmatic, and spellbinding in a singular way.

It was written by Charles Beaumont, who is a legendary figure in weird fiction and pulp magazines.

And Beaumont had a very different thematic obsession than Serling.

Serling was highly political and moralistic.
