Sally O'NeilGUEST
2:34
Yeah, sure, can if it's the right time.
Sally O'NeilGUEST
2:37
So what, we're actually a heart of the Channel Country, so...
Sally O'NeilGUEST
2:40
It's all those beautiful channels that fill with water as, you know, the rain comes through the wet season and comes downstream from the north and it all leads into Lake Eyre.
Sally O'NeilGUEST
2:51
So after a good run in the river, of course, we've always got yabbies and yellowbelly.
Steve HadleyGUEST
28:55
and the Sunshine Coast, extending across many central and southern parts of the state south of there.
Steve HadleyGUEST
29:02
And there'll be more likely severe thunderstorms around the central west, the Maranoa Warrego, and parts of the Channel Country.
Steve HadleyGUEST
29:11
Potentially we could see with those severe thunderstorms some damaging wind gusts, some heavy bursts of rain and some large hail across the interior of the state, mostly the western interior and the southern interior.
Steve HadleyGUEST
29:23
And then in the southeast of the state around the southeast corner potentially some heavy bursts of rain coming through for Sunday.
Steve HadleyGUEST
29:31
so yeah it's all go over the weekend lots of shower and storm activity around i'm imagining there'll be lots of people out there jumping for joy because it hasn't rained for a bit but because of those heavy dumps of rain we do have some potential for flash flooding and fast creek and river level rises so really important in these situations if there are thunderstorms forecast in your area to maintain your situational awareness and don't go driving into flooded areas and just sheltering I guess where there is some lightning and large hail going on and also the damaging wind gusts as well so yeah and then if we talk about the early part of next week because it still goes on this big sort of thunderstorm outbreak the trough moves on into Monday So it starts to clear through the Channel Country and areas of the far southwest on the Monday.
Steve HadleyGUEST
30:24
But there's going to be a hot zone of thunderstorm activity stretching right from Brisbane in the southeast through the Darling Downs Wide Bay, Central Highlands and Coalfields in the central west.
Steve HadleyGUEST
30:37
So we could see some likely severe thunderstorms in the far southeast corner.
The DuckGUEST
10:36
But, I mean, there was a lot of that.
The DuckGUEST
10:37
That water actually came from around the Channel Country.
The DuckGUEST
10:40
I know there's some rain in Mount Isa.
The DuckGUEST
10:42
It came in through that way and through those areas that really needed it.
Callie BuchananHOST
34:46
And I will just run over that severe thunderstorm warning for damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall.
Callie BuchananHOST
34:53
For parts of the Channel Country, the Maranoa and Warrego forecast districts, it was issued just on half past 12 just now.
Callie BuchananHOST
35:00
There are severe thunderstorms developing over the southwest.
Callie BuchananHOST
35:03
And they may develop rapidly over parts of the southwest where those conditions are favourable throughout today.
Harry ClarkGUEST
44:49
But really, I guess as we look ahead to the coming days, we're only getting sort of the start of what's going to be a very dynamic week weather-wise across Queensland.
Harry ClarkGUEST
44:57
So as we go into tomorrow, the severe thunderstorm activity through that sort of southern interior area all the way up to Longreach, west into the Channel Country.
Harry ClarkGUEST
45:04
We'll really ramp up, so severe thunderstorms likely through that region tomorrow, but broadly showers and thunderstorms building throughout the day through southern and central Queensland, particularly into the evening.
Harry ClarkGUEST
45:15
We'll start seeing that spread into areas of rain and fairly widespread rain continuing on Thursday.
Phelan HannafieCORRESPONDENT
33:18
It actually pushes a little bit westward.
Phelan HannafieCORRESPONDENT
33:19
So we'll see some of that storm activity push into areas of the Channel Country.
Phelan HannafieCORRESPONDENT
33:24
The risk of severe storms may ease, but we'll still have scattered to even widespread storm activity at times, particularly through that southern tier.
Phelan HannafieCORRESPONDENT
33:31
And then further east, we're going to have widespread shower activity at times as well.
MichaelAUDIENCE
23:51
We had to do a ferry flight from Birdsville back to Adelaide in a helicopter.
MichaelAUDIENCE
23:56
Had to take a special trip up there one way, thinking, oh, we're going to be flying back down through the Channel Country.
MichaelAUDIENCE
24:03
Unfortunately, it didn't eventuate.
MichaelAUDIENCE
24:06
Stuck there for a week getting service parts and fixing it and ended up travelling back by bus and aeroplane back to Adelaide and not using the flight.
Callie BuchananHOST

A look at what's being alleged and how this case may proceed forward on the program today.
Callie BuchananHOST
0:46
And tenders have been awarded for further oil and gas exploration in parts of the Channel Country, what that might mean for the west after half past 12.
Callie BuchananHOST
0:58
We will start today though with storm clouds rolling in across Southern Queensland.
Callie BuchananHOST
1:03
It's a welcome sight for some.

Callie BuchananHOST
21:19
Bring you that story before one o'clock.
Liam SmartGUEST
33:58
Um, you got a swathe of troughs coming through.
Liam SmartGUEST
34:01
There's a lot of subtle features, but we do have a main one that's crept into the Channel Country, um, today, and it's gonna start moving over the rest of the southern parts of the state over the next twenty-four hours or so.
Liam SmartGUEST
34:14
So in that, you'll see some falls of around five to ten millimeters, but we are expecting some embedded thunderstorms in that as well.
Liam SmartGUEST
34:21
So those embedded thunderstorms will provide those higher rainfall amounts.
Ben DwyerGUEST
52:28
So every other time that that process has happened, so a fair bit of stress, high anxiety for the animal and the humans that were handling it, and then you eat it, no good.
Ben DwyerGUEST
52:37
The one time down in the Channel Country Brighton Downs, unbelievable.
Scott WrightHOST
52:42
Fantastic.
Scott WrightHOST
52:43
