it just started organically as you know you're sort of witnessing some part of it through COVID and suddenly like we are here you know like that teaching side i think really helped i love teaching i love you know breaking down concepts for people and after two three years i'm here and now i'm just doing this podcast shows as well to help my students as well as me i would like to connect with people in the chess world and i think you are the guy who can bring a lot of value for chess players at all levels Given your expertise, you're a chess player yourself, so it's a perfect combination of a professor from cognitive science, also a chess player.

Today, Chris, I want to talk mainly about metacognitive stuff, because you did so much work about many, many important areas of memory, change blindness, cognitive biases, even overconfidence in chess.

So I want to, let's say, limit our talk to those four major points today.

Well, basically, it really goes on to show how limited we are as humans when it comes to attention, right? We can easily miss stuff that is going on in front of our eyes given limited resources of attentional resources and so on change blindness you were the one behind that study chris i gave this to my son by the way oscar he's six years old he couldn't see the girl himself he was surprised but then he came up with an experiment he told me that i should ask you this question today how about this experiment he said Imagine they are playing a chess game, and with each move, the color of the squares are changing gradually, from black to little shades of gray and maybe brown.

Would people notice that? That was his question.
