Chaïm Soutine

Oh, love it.

Earl is also the house band at the Fun House in Topeka, Kansas, which is also his residence and the residence of three cats, Soutine, a Trullo, Mortimer Meeps, memes.

Wow.

And two dogs, Prez and Lady Day.

a clump of trees leaning madly over to one side as if blown by a tremendous wind, the sky swirling and twisting all around.

Attached to the frame, there was a little plaque, and on this it said, Haim Soutine, 1894-1943.

Trioli stared at the picture, wondering vaguely what there was about it that seemed familiar to

Crazy painting, he thought.

Very strange and crazy, but I like it.

Haim Soutine.

Soutine.

By God, he cried suddenly.

he describes the house as engorged.

He's like, it's like Soutine ate the whole house or something.

And then when Gustin is talking about the clan paintings, for example, he says, I want them to be doing regular things.

Show them eating burgers and drinking beer.

The strangest moments weren't the big absences, but the slivers of shared intimacy I caught in quick flash as the kind that made me feel like an extra in my own marriage.

Like the Friday night Kyle walked in, hauled in a worn-out catalogue and saying, Maggie says Soutine's impasse to work is criminally underrated, as if he was breaking new aesthetic ground.

I blinked, caught off guard, not only because Soutine was Maggie's obsession and mine, a little I told her stories about my trip to the Tate to see his paintings, but because I'd never heard Kyle mention him until now.

I made a face, turning from my laptop.
