Certainty

And this is where I would make one important distinction.

Certainty does not mean I know exactly how this is going to happen.

Certainty means I trust that whatever is happening here is for my good, no matter how it ends.

That's completely different.

Maybe the business succeeds exactly as you envisioned.

Maybe the door opens.

Maybe the door closes and redirects you.

The attachment says, "It has to be this door." Certainty says, "I know where I'm going.

So, let's jump into the first one.

Certainty and clarity are not the same thing.

You can know enough to choose without knowing how everything will turn out.

Uh, I mean, this is life.

Certainty says, "I know what will happen." Clarity says, "I understand why I'm choosing this." Very, very different.

You may have clarity about marrying someone without certainty about what the next 50 years will bring the two of you.

You may have clarity about starting a business without certainty that it will succeed in the way that you're imagining it, or if at all.

I think today there is a lot of focus on pricing and that's a good thing to focus on, obviously, right? But the term sheet that has a quarter percent off or half a point lower from someone else doesn't really matter if their draw process doesn't show up or if everything takes longer to close or if those term sheet terms on the LOI are going to change before closing.

So I wrote a piece about this a few a couple months ago called Certainty is the New Pricing.

And I would say that borrowers should put a lot more attention on whether that lender behind the term sheet is the partner that you want to have on the deal going forward through closing and after it closes because Any construction loan or fix and flip loan is essentially 15 smaller loans, right? You have to get draws in time and you have to work with that lender and your GC and your builder and your subcontractors as you're fixing or building the home.

And whether you got a quarter percent off on the rate from some lender that doesn't really have their draw system or draw team built out correctly is going to turn out to be way more expensive down the line.

To be honest,

Certainty, certainty about anything is the most terrifying thing to me.

What do you mean certainty is terrifying?

Certainty is terrifying? I mean, if

you knew that there was an afterlife, Would that be comforting or terrifying? How would I ever know?

It's a myth that religion is a private affair separated from our secular public life of politics and culture.

You can squeeze the richness out of this life just a little bit tighter.

Certainty is an illusion.

It's, it was never there to begin with.

It was just something that we told ourselves was true.

So again and again, when we find ourselves settled in the certainty of our knowledge of what the world is and who these people are and what their value is, [atmet tief aus] whoa, clouds, dark, dark.
