But the key ones definitely for me are the two vice captains.
N
2:55Nia JonesGUEST
So Ceri Holland's so influential.
N
2:57Nia JonesGUEST
You can play her anywhere.
N
2:58Nia JonesGUEST
She's brilliant defensively, but so valuable offensively as well.

Obviously she's kind of playing as a 10 or a more an attacking midfielder, but playing just with a lot of kind of tenacity, a lot of, you know, en- energy.
M
58:06Matt CloughHOST
Um, but I think the really big thing for me is we've said a lot, um, both through the kind of Matt Beard era and also the Gareth Taylor era, just how critical Ceri Holland is to Liverpool and how, I don't have the numbers to hand, but like cert... particularly last season, they looked okay.
M
58:25Matt CloughHOST
When, when, when they were awful, if she was on the pitch, they looked okay, and if she wasn't on the pitch, they looked awful.
C
58:31Charlie ParksHOST
Mm.
M
59:12Matt CloughHOST
Not only has she made a big impact, but she's, she's got some very big shoes to fill there, and I think she's done a very admirable job.
C
59:20Charlie ParksHOST
I mean, you could say the same about Mariona Caldentey in, in the Spain squad, couldn't you? Mm-hmm.
M
59:25Matt CloughHOST
I, I'd make the argument that Ceri Holland is more important to Liverpool than Mariona is to Spain.
C
59:30Charlie ParksHOST
Ooh, no, no, yeah, that's true, yeah.

Tottenham Academy product Hills, who was previously at Reading, is promoted to the senior squad, having received her first under-19s call-up earlier this year Daz we'll talk more about the opponents Albania next week but some key admissions in the squad here do Cymru have enough not just to go through this round against Albania but potentially the next round against Norway or Romania and then the round after that the qualifying round to get to a World Cup finals

It's a big ask.
D

I mean, Kerry Holland is a huge loss.
D
80:57DazHOST
I mean, I've been following, as you can imagine, the Liverpool women and her performances this year have been exceptional, exceptional.

And I think we've also seen what she can do on the ball.
J

And she just feels like a player who can make things happen, but like... her floor is really high if that makes sense like you know I think Liverpool have often had players in the past who could do something really exciting in the moment whether it's like Herbinger or Kerry Holland like really really like talented talented players but sometimes like across a season you have those flash moments but it's not consistent enough to like build a big team that like can consistently compete and i think when you're adding players like ramos who you know can give you that level in a in a variety of different game states as well right like who can do the off the ball stuff against city who can you know put the balls into the box in the in the mercy side derby who can you know do the solo stuff as we saw in the the subway cup like I feel like being able to be that all-round package is something that feels really exciting for Liverpool.

So really, really impressed with how they were set up.
S
26:33Scarlett HerronPANELIST
I just think maybe in that second half... we talk about you just said there about the recruitment maybe not enough you know there wasn't a lot of substitutes made by Gareth Taylor maybe he didn't have the options on the bench obviously you still have the likes of Kerry Holland to come back in but I think they were just a bit they were knackered at the end you know they'd put so much effort into the game you're thinking 70 minutes you need some fresh legs to come on i think there was maybe one sub before the city winner goes in and then eventually hemp obviously steals it but that um that goal to lose it the the own goal is just so unfortunate it's you know they've defended so well all game and then for that to happen is is really it's it's gut wrenching for them but i think as i said they'll take a lot of pride from that performance and i think liverpool will go on to win a lot of games and probably upset a few teams this season
K
27:21Kathleen McNameeHOST
Yes, well, if you're Chelsea, say, looking at that as probably nearest rivals, although you could easily say Spurs or someone at this stage as well, what's your target? Is it shutting down those goal scorers that you know that City have or focusing on the fact that there is a potential for them to leak goals this season? I
K
27:46Karen DugganHOST
think in terms of the head-to-head, I think Chelsea would like to bring City into more of a dogfight.
