Celeste Amarilla

So what's the story there?

Yeah, so this is a Paraguayan politician, a senator called, I think her name is Celeste Amarilla, who came out with some of the most racist and blatantly racist comments I think I've seen from a politician in South America, really against Kylian Mbappe, but more generally against black footballers, a lot of the kind of racialist tropes of Africanism and racism drums and savagery and barbarism came out.

It was an absolutely outrageous, horrendous, racist statement that is indefensible.

Mbappé responded very diplomatically, actually, criticising the senator, but also saying that this went against the excellent efforts of the football team, the hard work.
