And so I didn't continue with that.

But then they sent me to St. Raphael's in Selbridge, which was an intellectual disability centre, a campus type centre.

And I was sent as a, I don't know what they called, probably a nurse's aide back then.

And to be honest, the nurses treated the nurses' aides like, well, didn't treat them very well.

And that started with Group A on last Friday evening.

And you have some difference that 48 hours later at the games on Sunday afternoon, we're playing a beautiful sunshine, a glorious afternoon, which Friday evening in Cedars-Saint-Connors Park, where I was for the Selbridge and Clayne game, and down the road in Mangard Park for Johnstone and Alan Wood.

It was absolutely pouring down from the first ball to the last.

It never, never relented.

But, yeah, it really was exciting because Alan Wood, I suppose, put up a good show in the first half against Johnstone Bridge, but Johnstone Bridge, as expected, then got on top and saw out a victory with two second-half goals.

That would have been a futile victory had Klain got a result against Selbridge, and it looked very much like they were going to after Shane O'Sullivan nailed a hugely pressurised two-pointer in the 60th minute.

The centre three-up breach, but it was one that he had the choice to take a one-pointer or a two-pointer at that stage of the game.

These games in Group A will start the weekend off in terms of the Joe Malamore Senior Football Championship.

They take place on Friday evening where Selbridge meet Klain in St. Connors Park and Alan Wood take on Johnstown Bridge in Mangard Park.

Seamus, if you want to take Group A here, I suppose looking at it, obviously that game between Selbridge and Klain is going to be the key one in terms of topping the group as well.

But Johnstone Bridge, they will be hoping that Selbridge can do them a favour in terms of beating Klain, and that would open up the possibility of them sneaking into second place.

But it's a very, very tight score difference.

This is one group that we really could be keeping an eye on every single point scored in both games.

And what a hurling weekend this weekend.

Senior Championship, two rounds over and is it as we expected it would be in Group A? You have Selbridge and Clayton on top, Johnstone Bridge and Alan Wood bringing up, but big games coming up the next time around in Group B.

B, then you have Maynooth and Sarsfield tied on four points each.

Carberry and Cara yet to open their accounts.

one team that stands out obviously was Salons, who were, albeit wind-assisted in the first half against the Tide, they were absolutely superb, ran out of steam a little bit in the second half as the Tide came back strong, and Salons couldn't see that job out, but they were a side who were fighting for their lives.

Johnstone Bridge as well, another team going up against one of the Championship favourites, having lost a victory, having that snatched out of their grasp, sorry, having got a late goal to get a draw against Payne in the opening rounds, they really put it up to Selbridge, and again, we're very unlucky not to get a result there, but the The result of them again probably is Kilcock.

That's a fantastic result for them against Raheens.

But, uh, you were talking about the reputation it had.

So I played with this when I was a teenager, but then I went to America, I think I was 20, and I bumped into a gr- a group of lads from Celbridge.

And we'd had played Celbridge at some stage.

I can't remember what the name of the team was.

But they were like, "Oh, did you play football?" Blah, blah, blah.

Alan Wood played Klain at 3.45 in Cedro St. Connacht's Park.

And then Selbridge played Johnstone Bridge in Mangard Park at 5pm.

Mick O'Grady, of course, the former Kildare captain and stalwart of Selbridge GAA Club.

Unfortunately, his father passed away during the week.

Mick Sr., a great supporter of the Selbridge Club, a Kerry native, but obviously a huge supporter of his son's exploits in the Kildare jersey as well.

And sincere condolences to Mick O'Grady and everybody in the Selbridge Club.

Mick O'Grady Sr. will be very sadly missed, and I'm sure that will be an emotional occasion on Sunday, Seamus, any time a club plays a game so soon after the loss of such a significant figure within the club it's always an emotional occasion and obviously salvage would love to win and uh out of respect for michael brady senior but yeah tough times for the club and uh i suppose in some ways when the ball is thrown in that's uh maybe the time that she your mind is taken off away such as such a loss
