Cavalera Conspiracy

yeah the thing that i kept thinking about during this cure set is uh obviously the cure having the catalog that they have which is legendary yes but also so extensive obviously the cure are a very beloved band so they will have many hardcore fans who you know know the catalog in and out but i'm gonna wager there wasn't 30 000 of those hardcore fans you know everything in attendance right they are a band who obviously the reason they are so big and they have the ability to play these shows while, you know, other bands of their generation might be stuck in, you know, academies or whatever, is they have this incredible pop crossover and the ability to pull in, like, more casual fans, right? Yeah.

So the pacing of, like, a over-two-hour Cure setlist was fascinating to me because they clearly, you know, they have the songs that do pull in everyone, but then there were Long extended periods That middle section Yeah but they went off into regions where I was like Trying to put myself in the mindset Of like what if I Was you know I'm one of the This is one of my four gigs a year type crowd And I've come to see Freedom and Love and Yeah exactly all those songs This is a very weird comparison point But I was reminded of when I saw The Cavalera Brothers playing The Morbid Visions show Yeah And it was like, they were playing in Manchester Academy One, which is a venue much, much larger than the Morbid Vision's material should be in, right? But the reason they were in that venue is because it's the Cavalera's and they have legend and name status and everything from other things.

That they have done and so people who are Maybe a little more casual will see the Cavaleros on a poster And they'll go oh yeah you know I remember Chaos AD I remember Roots they'll go along and see it But this particular show They just were doing more vision so what I'm saying is Doing material that Should not be in the space That it is in but it is so Because you have like clout and Name recognition from other things you have done And in a very weird way that's what I was reminded of with The Cure where they are in This enormous like tens of thousands Of people Because of this incredible pop crossover they have.

But because they still ventured into strange, weird stuff that if they had only been that band, they would be like, you know, Fields of the Nephilim or Sisters of Mercy or something where they're only in, you know, Academy type venues to this day.
