Catch wrestling

Like I could still like hurt you with these moves, right? It's just a simple chain.

How are you going to chain these things together? And with catch wrestling and just wrestling in general, the more I've done it, the more I've realized that as soon as there's some sort of connection, like me physically touching you, I can almost travel your, your body wherever I want and however I want.

Um, like if i have if i have you in a double wrist lock i could transition to a leg lock you know that type of thing where it's not just like oh the the standard triangle arm bar omoplata you know like what you kind of learn in jiu-jitsu which is totally fine totally realistic you can do that you can chain that but there's it's a different level of chaining um and just putting the pieces together um And that's honestly how I'm getting ready for these things.

It's just, how can I chain this? How can I make this look cool? Okay.

And I think any promotion that takes you would be very, very lucky.

because you have this style that people need to see.

And I see you as one of the last hopes generations of bridging that gap to get people back into real wrestling and catch wrestling from that monitor, that lens of pro wrestling.

And I think you could really inspire a generation of kids that didn't even know it existed.

And so I go talk to the old timers about this.

They start telling me about this thing, catch wrestling.

And I'm like, oh, this is cool.

Whoa, so pro.

You just call it something different, depending on what country you're in, you know, and it all does flow back together.

So... you you're at this point now then you can see this is booming you've got these ideas where do you go from there because everyone sat there with an idea and think oh i could do this or i could do that but you you made it into something where does that come from how what what seeds are planted for that to grow

well so so now here's the other thing so now i'm in the same boat again I'm like, I want to learn this catch wrestling thing, but it's nowhere.

Just like 10 years earlier in 93, now it's 2003.

There was also an American heavyweight wrestling championship in catch wrestling, which was just called the American title.

And that's going to be held by a gentleman named Evan the Strangler Lewis.

But we're getting a little bit ahead of ourselves on Catch as Catch Can.

So let's say 1880 to 1889.

That is the zenith for Greco-Roman wrestling in the United States because of William Muldoon.

I don't want to put words in your mouth, but do you feel like he never appreciated Hickson because he was never in the room with Hickson and never had the opportunity to train with

him? Yeah, the whole mentality of catch wrestling was different.

His whole objective was...

If you roll with somebody, they should never want to roll with you ever again.

And that was to make more money because they wanted to make it more entertaining.

Do you think

that's why people stopped taking catch wrestling so seriously?

Because it turned into pro wrestling?

It came to me just off the top of my head.

I was giving an interview in Japan, and everyone was throwing around pride, and they're like, okay, well, how is catch wrestling...

You know, explain catch wrestling.

How is it different from jiu-jitsu? And I needed to think of something on the spot.

And, you know, knowing...

Do also means way, uh, it's a little complicated, but essentially it means the gentle art or gentle way.

Uh, so I coined catch wrestling as the violent art because at the time, and it's, it's only actually, it's so funny because now jujitsu is split off into all these different semi factions.
