Cat Bohannon

But in truth, mothers have been developing that all along.

And I can't help but This book, you're talking about the evolution, and this one by Kat Bohannon is called Eve, and the subtitle is How the Female Body Drove 200 Million Years of Human Evolution, which is absolutely true, but I feel like we don't even get credit for that half the time.

And so we just have all this history where we're overlooking the physicality of motherhood and the fact that women mothers are carrying the evolution of our species.

And then we look at all of those leadership skills that they're developing outside of the paid workplace, and we ignore those.

Hey, welcome to Seven Minute Books.

I'm Sam, and today we're talking about EVE by Cat Bohannon.

It's this wild argument that the female body didn't just tag along for human evolution, it actually drove the whole thing.

Sophie, I have to ask, did this book mess with your head the way it messed with mine?

Hey there, Sam.

Oh, absolutely.

Cat Bohannon takes the story we've all been told about human origins, the one where a guy with a spear drags his knuckles across the savanna and invents everything, and she just calmly takes it apart.

She's saying the real engine of our species' history isn't the hunter, it's the pelvis, the breast, the womb, and, and the egg.
