Castlefield Eclipse

The business has evolved and changed so much so.

And There wasn't good horses here because the breeding in Ireland, probably there was Castlefield Eclipse and Flexible for years.

And now when you look every week, there's an Irish bred horse jumping in a five star Grand Prix that's been produced through here and people are coming back to buy our best horse.

So the sport has changed and the riders now definitely have better opportunities to ride better horses.

So just to watch the girls compete and to be able to help them with that, that's definitely the number one for me at the minute.

And then I suppose my big passion is to pick out a good young horse and produce it and then maybe to sell it to somebody and then to watch it on the biggest stage.

something maybe to see like I got to buy Castlefield Eclipse when she was three or she was four in Gorse Bridge and I remember she was the first horse that I ever called Castlefield actually and she was in Gorse Bridge and she went down over the first crossbow and she jumped it like really really high and looked brilliant and the crowd just came in around her and she did that twice more on the next two fences and then she came down and she stopped and she stood in the corner and I was young and I didn't have much money so I was thinking maybe it's my chance now to get to buy her and she worked out not too expensive and then when I brought her home I got so many falls off her and she was so difficult but I had to find a way because I knew how talented she was and as a five year old then I sold her very well and she went on to compete at the Olympics and jump double clear in Aachen and And, you know, to be able to see the talent that was there and then to be able to work as sort of a difficult mare and put her in line.

And she went on to Paul O'Shea, who did a wonderful job, and then to Arturo Fassana and get to the top level with Paul Esterman.
