Castle Rat

I went to I think I mentioned it because Austin had gone to see them like the day before or something like that.

I went and saw Castle Rat.

which was not the first time I've seen castle rat.

Uh, but

if you know my patches, you probably know I am a huge castle rat fan.

I've been following them since they were just showing up in my algorithm, still playing like bars in Brooklyn.

Uh, man, they put on just the most incredible show.

I went to a concert at the Majestic in Detroit.

I saw Castle Rat.

And I don't know if you're familiar with Castle Rat or not, but Castle Rat is...

Familiar with the

Majestic.

Yeah, I don't remember how many I had.

A few.

So anyways, Castle Rat is like a they're like a fantasy themed metal band.

So, like, yeah, like, to just kind of have, like, that, again, it goes back to that sort of communal thing of, like, why wouldn't you want to enjoy this music with other people? You know, why wouldn't you want to just be out there and to talk to people and to enjoy it? Because, yeah, and like you said, too, like, I'm definitely the same way of, like, I could be an extrovert for a hot minute, but it's like, I do want to go home and read books.

know the especially with the uh the shirt thing i see so many yellow grave ripper shirts like when i go to uh shows and festivals um like the radiated remains yellow shirt um i'm like man that is just brilliant i see grave ripper fans everywhere um but Castle Rat, because I worked on their first album, that is the one that I'm like, well, I see Castle Rat shit everywhere now.

And like mad props to King Volume Records and Todd for being the main dude there.

Yeah, I feel like Castle Rat, all of a sudden, I just woke up one day and they were, like, one of the biggest bands in metal.

And they deserve it.

I mean, they put on a phenomenal show.

So, like, cool.

Good for them.

It looks like...

We saw Castle Rat.

Is it the bassist with that fucking crow mask they would use to survive? Yeah, it was a plague mask.

A plague mask, right.

First time I saw this fucking bird.

Oh, come on.

I really thought it was the dude from Castle Rat.

I'm not exaggerating.

Like I was reading that up...

Do you guys know Castle Rat?

Yeah.

Yeah.

No.

It's LA mindset.

'Cause she was, she was on like local radio stations before she was Castle Rat.

Mm.

We're watching a movie

... we're gonna go to a Castle Rat concert together.

Yes.

All right.

And Johan, the Amon Amarth stage is always one of the more entertaining things in music.

I know you had the chance to do this this past summer, but I'm still wowed by the idea of the creativity involved in a tour pairing with Dethklok and Castle Rat.

[laughs]

How enjoyable was it to see what everyone on that tour would bring nightly, and did you personally pick up anything creatively from how your support acts approached their shows?

I thought it was a great tour.

I think all the bands, uh, complement each other in, in different ways.

Uh, I think Castle Rat were a lot of fun to s- to, to watch them live, and they had a great show.

Uh, Dethklok obviously amazing.

But they were not the, the, the main band.

The headliner was a band called Castle Rat.

Huh.

Have you ever heard of Castle Rat? No.

Oh my God, brother.

What they are, they are described as a medieval fantasy doom metal band.

Neat ...

but yeah.
