What I'm about to say is a very severe oversimplification of what is essentially a smooth process from the beginning of, hey, I need to learn something to I know that and I can practice with it and use it.

The scientists at CAST or the Center for Applied Special Technology in Boston figured out that the learning process can be artificially broken into three different segments.

We need to have a why, a reason to learn something.

And if we don't have that reason, we tend not to pay attention terribly well.
