And then my former student from Augie, the terrific Phil McKinley, who's directed on Broadway and, in fact, currently has had tours out in the U.S. and in this country directing the same show on Broadway and on the West End with Elf.

I think you have to be aware of it when you're putting a cast together.

And we had a choreographer who I think is brilliant and gave so much to the show, Casey Nicholaw.

It was his first Broadway show.

And he's only been a choreographer for like two or three years before that, who was a dancer in the chorus.

Um, and that's that.

And so the show opened on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre in March 2011, and it was directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw.

Mm-hmm.

And the show originally starred Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells in the two, um, parts of Elder Cunningham, Elder Price.

Nikki M. James won for Best Featured Actress.

Casey Nicholaw and Trey Parker won for Best Direction, Best Orchestrations, yada, yada.

The list goes on.

Matthew Sklar, who writes the music, and Chad Beguelin writes the lyrics.

And their director now, these days, ever since the prom, is Casey Nicholaw.

And they are writing a new musical that we get to chatting a decent amount about, which is really, really exciting.

We were so happy to have Chad here.

And

I had said to Tom Schumacher, he's like, how's Elf going? I'm like, great.

And Casey Nicholaw is amazing and would be great for Aladdin.

And that's sort of how that all happened.
