How and when and why Dark Horse? Where did Dark Horse come from?

Well, Dark Horse is like a common term used in events, like basically the up-and-comer, the unseen talent that's like kind of rising to the top and may lay down like a winning run type thing.

So yeah, choosing that name was sort of a no-brainer because there was – during 2019 during COVID actually, there was such an uprising of young talent and free ride on the female side.

So, uh, seeing them like hungry for something, but not really having the platform to show showcase their skills or other than like their own Instagrams or, uh, whatever they were choosing to kind of promote themselves with.

Uh, yeah.

So there was a gap there and I thought maybe that we could create an event that sort of helps these young athletes create the the skill set that they need to be athletes or wherever they want to take their mountain biking in the world like whether they want to be a trail digger like yeah or work in the industry in any other way but yeah basically giving them the the all the lessons that I had to learn the hard way growing up and like figuring out the industry like you can just you know tell them how it works and then they're so many more steps ahead

So how has that changed over the years?

Yeah, so last year we evolved it into kind of splitting the academy side and the Jump Jam side so we could get younger athletes involved because there's so many girls that we're just hungry for.

How many words on average do we have before that see more or whatever shows up? I mean, like talk to us a little bit about how we can do that hook and make that work with that graphic.

So you have about three lines, right? I like to use line breaks.

So that takes away one of my lines.

So you have our own like two lines or two sentences per se.

Right.

And again, our main job with these two words or excuse me, these two sentences and the photo is, is actually to obviously, yes, get somebody to stop.

When they do stop, I need them to click see more.

So any tips on how to do this?

Yeah, I met somebody who had the same, um, the same thing where her dad had kind of a whole other life, and she found out she had some half siblings.

I feel like, though, we can learn their- Turn left onto South Michigan Avenue ... who she was through their eyes.

No, and artistic, like poetry and how you drew, and all of those wickets that I just w- I always thought like, "Oh, Holly got, like, all of that part of Dad and Mom."

Mm.

Like, I just always thought it was, like, different and equal in that way in, in, in intelligence.

Like, I never...

I just was like, "Oh, I got the parts that are, like, good at remembering dates and make me good at tests." [laughs] Which is very helpful in school.

I know

I was kinda like, "Okay, we gotta probably put, put some of it somewhere and get rid of some of it," but I also was more on the sentimental, like, keep it side.

And so I think our compromise was that we ended up keeping a lot more than...

Like, there's a bunch of stuff that Carson's storing in a storage at his work that we do need to go through.

Instead of me just knowing, we all know it happened.

Yeah.

So we went to Mammoth, and one of the things we did was mountain bike, and it was during summertime where the ski lifts were not covered in snow and you can go mountain biking.

So it is big, basically big fish.

I don't know if this is true, but Dad said that he was there the day, or the, like, there was a moment in time where they implemented, um, harnesses and seat belts on rollercoasters-

Mm-hmm.

So, like, he, when he graduated, he was like, Roy E. Disney was there.

Um, you know, just cool stuff.

I wouldn't be surprised, they would've been in totally different programs, wouldn't be surprised if Dad was there when Tim Burton was there.

Before every movie, we were served by our butler, Jeeves, who bore a striking resemblance to my dad in a ponytail, with a British accent and a napkin draped over his arm.

Dad, like, primed us to believe in everything, though.

Like, we just lived in a kind of magical childhood.

I don't remember what he did.

I just remember the towel and his British accent and that he had three kids.

Jeeves had three kids in England named Yisak, Lee Hall, and Sankar.

So just pig Latin versions of our names, I guess.

Eh, the region is fuzzy, but our local bowling alley was his stage.
