They could have easily looked around and been like, one, OK, let's lean into Carson Boyd more because he is a different threat.

We could just maybe ramp up the package for him or two.

Let's just go to Clayton, give Clayton another week to settle in.

And that's why I still think Illinois is probably going to go in there and transfer quarterback because every season is about maximizing that season and that roster, and that's why Caden Houser was brought here.

That's part of the reason Illinois now has five wins because kudos to Michael Clayton and Carson Boyd for helping them win a couple games, but Houser's your chance to win seven games or eight games.

That's how they're thinking.

I'm fast to see what their quarterbacks look like because they're going with both quarterbacks.

They're going with Carson Boyd and Michael Clayton II.

There was some buzz that Clayton they thought could be the internal answer going into next year, and then they played two quarterbacks last week.

So you know what they say.

We can't sit here last week and say, oh, they had a whole week to prepare Michael Clayton and Carson Boyd and Roger Cooper and Archie McDaniel and Corey Parker all chatted and they got all that.

It's the same thing.

Well, and keep in mind Carson Boyd.

He's going to play.

And Carson Boyd was poised to take over at Michigan State.

And I think it's been a pretty good battle for the second and third spots.

They went with Michael Clayton.

And then all of a sudden, he gets part of this game plan and did a great job.

Big 20-yard run on that touchdown that gave us the lead.

But in the red zone, he was able to cash in a couple of times.

But what did you make of Barry and how he used Michael and how he inserted Carson Boyd into that game as well?

So number one, I like the way they mixed and matched that for different situational football things that went on.

Michael Clayton was exactly what I thought he would be.

He missed a couple of this like dinks and dunk throws that a seventh grade JFL quarterback could honestly make.

And so I don't know what was going on there.

I actually really like what Carson Boyd brings to it.

I felt he came in and I'm always looking, does a backup quarterback, and maybe we don't call him a backup, but does a quarterback use in situ, does he have confidence and does the team have confidence in him? That was the number one thing he was doing.

I thought they were really good.

Carson Boyd mixed it up, had a really nice 20 yard run as well.

When he came in and he even threw the ball once, I think that was really good from Barry to kind of keep the team, the Oregon defense, off balance, if you will.

But Kirkland, you're an offensive line guy, right? So what did this offensive line do, particularly that made them extremely successful on the run game, like you said? It seems like they've been expected to do this for the whole season, but this is probably the first time that they put it all together.

This week, it was great to see what seemed like a fully healthy, fully re-acclimated offensive line that was able to get to work and kind of congeal a little bit.

Like I said, I think it was the best thing for them to really get that unit going offensively because now you saw the run game click.

And if the run game clicks, Michael Clayton and Carson Boyd are going to click, which I know you mentioned that.
