Carry On

I mean, this is the killer album, is it not? This is the one that just blows people away.

Carry On, written by Stills.

One morning I woke up And I knew it was all wrong

Teach Your Children by Nash.

And that kind of stuff kept happening, you know.

Neil doesn't even play on half that record, which people don't even realize maybe because I really specified in the credits, he only plays and sings on five songs on Deja Vu.

He's not on Carry On, he's not on Deja Vu, he's not on Our House.

it irks Nash to this day that Neil didn't sing on like his songs.

You haven't heard what I've heard." And, uh, that was the magic that David and Stephen and I had created that night.

The sky is clearing And the night is brightenin' up The sun, he come The world is open up Rejoice, rejoice We have no choice But to carry on

The first Crosby, Stills, and Nash record was kind of set apart in many different ways.

Uh, first of all, starting with the group name.

But overall, it, it served Neil pretty well to join them, and it served them to bring in another instrumentalist to kinda bolster them.

I don't think anybody knew what the ultimate ramifications were gonna be just a few months down the line, but at least on paper, it served all parties well, uh, to bring Neil aboard, even though it seemed like, y- you know, on the surface, it might not have really been necessary.

[singing] Carry on.

Love is coming.
