Well, the mayoral race is also heating up in Mississauga, with four of the leading candidates for the top job facing off in a debate this afternoon.

They include incumbent Carolyn Parrish, former mayor and former Ontario liberal leader, party leader Bonnie Crombie, and councilors Alvin Tedjo and Deepika Dharmala.

Each candidate outlined why they should be the one to claim or keep or reclaim the mayor's chair.

Yeah, I ran for premier.

It'll be faster than anything on the table right now and cheaper.

Incumbent Mayor Carolyn Parrish did not respond to our request for comment.

The idea has transit riders talking.

Why are these two people going to determine the future of Mississauga? I'm talking about Bonnie Crombie and Carolyn Parrish.

And when I took phone calls from people in Mississauga, it was, uh, a- and I get that my little phone call segment isn't how we decide who's going to be a mayor, although maybe it should be.

Um, but Bonnie and Carolyn Parrish are going neck and neck right now.

And there's a part of me that has no confidence in politicians when they make a promise that it's just a bit of a fish hook to get your vote with no real inclination to follow up on it, and I think that's true in the Toronto race.

I think it's true sometimes in provincial and federal races.

Yeah, happy to be there.

But let's face it, this is between Bonnie Crombie and Carolyn Parrish.

And then back to the Toronto mayor's race.

And when I say stuff's getting real, It's because people are starting to rule out policy and sort of nodding and winking angles.

Well, as premier Colin, not when back when he was a city councilor, he's enjoyed having skin in the game.

He's made a clear endorsement in Mississauga in a tightly contested race of four candidates of Carolyn Parrish continuing to be mayor.

He he made a clear play, I thought, to to ask people not to vote for Olivia Chow three years ago.

And it looked like there was clear and definitive backing of former police chief Mark Saunders.

Well, and he's also – he's been endorsing mayors in this election cycle.

I watch a lot of the premier's news conferences closely just to see what he says.

He's held news conferences with three or four mayors, including Olivia Chow, Hamilton's mayor, Andrea Horvath, the mayor of Mississauga, Carolyn Parrish, and the mayor of Vaughan, Stephen Del Duca.

Now, he didn't really have – an endorsement for Andrea Horvath, but certainly Carolyn Parrish, the premier specifically endorsed her, had another glowing review.

He's not going to endorse anybody.

He did endorse Carolyn Parrish, but he said, "Yeah, I did that, but I'm now staying out of it," staying out of municipal politics, um, other than the decisions he makes and how those affect.

The cities themselves.

So again, he will not bring back the speed cameras, will move forward with the Island Airport expansion, will take out some of the bike lanes, and will build the new science center.

Has the Premier said anything further other than his famous comment some time ago that he'd send in the army if Bonnie Crombie decided to run for mayor?

He appeared at a news conference with Carolyn Parrish, the current mayor of Mississauga, about a week and a half ago.

And he continued to say, you know, we want to see her back.

She's doing a great job.
